Has anyone here put on Michelin Hydrodege tires....I am changing my tires soon and I am not please with the goodyear RS-A as they wore out very quickly and the car mainly did highway driving, 80% of the time straight. Any other options out there that you would recommend.Hydroedge quote was 150$ canadian each
That's a good price. You don't get much snow in St. Catherines so Hydroedge should be good. Another excellent all-season tire is the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred. They are better in snow than the Michelin.
I have them on my Matrix 205/55 16's.While they do ride pretty smooth the make all sorts of noise...one of the loudest tires I've ever had depending on road surface. On smooth pavement they are pretty good but anything else they sing like a 4x4 and a low speeds they make a whoop whoop whoop sound like they are scalloped. They were awesome for about 2 weeks when I first got them...needless to say I'm pretty bummed .Some good points...in wet snow they are really good...in powdery snow...not good at all...fairly smooth ride but like I said...if road noise is an issue I'd look elsewhere..maybe I got a bad set?About 7K on them and I may eat the cost as I just got some OEM alloys...I'm probably not going to put the Edges on my rims and may go with the Exalto A/S or maybe Kumho Ecsta ASX
I'm planning on a set of Goodyear TripleTred's soon -- they're actually cheaper than replacing the RS/A's, and everything I've read says they're a wayyyy better tire. Quieter, better wet performance, better in snow, etc..
2003 Shadow Vibe -- Alloys, Auto, and Allota fun!Vibe #4,873Sadly, traded-in for a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
i got the hydroedges last july. i really like them...they do make a bit of noise but definitely less than the continentals that came with the car!in the wet the sound is interesting...almost a hum that i like to pretend is the sound of the water siphoning out from under my tires....which i can do because i'm very impressed with them in the wet.haven't had too much snow experience with them this winter but they are definitely better than the conti tires (again) and better than the BF Comp T/A and Goodyear RSA's i had on my VW golf. But one thing i've come to learn is that the car is a larger factor in snow driving than the tire.that being said, the VW was better in the snow than the Vibe, but the hydroedges seem to track better on compacted snow than those other tires.$150 each sounds a bit high but i don't remember how much i paid last summer...i'll check my receipts tonight and post.
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
just put hydroedges on my 1 week old vibe, have them on an 05 saturn ion as well.although a bit noisier they are much better than rsa's in the rain and snow, would not hesitate to recommend them
Hi,I've had Hydroedges on my vibe since May '05 - took them off in the winter of course. They're worn on the inside and outside yet have 6/32" left in the centre. Spoke to Michelin cust. serv. and they say the Vibe needs "H" rated tires. Hydroedge doesn't come in an "H" rated version.Michelin offered me a 40% discount towards either Pilot H or the MXV4 H rated tires as I'd used about 60% of the warranty. I've chosen the Pilots as they should last a little longer than the MXV4's.
