LeavesChanging leaves on the trees can not look so good on your car. As leaves decay, acids are produced to break down the leaves. These acids will etch the outline of the leaf into your vehicle’s paint. Your vehicle’s best protection is a quality car wax. Carnauba waxes, like Meguiar's Gold Class Mirror Glaze or a synthetic Meguiar's #26 NXT Gen Tech Wax will deter leaves from sticking to the paint by leaving a glossy, slick finish. You can go a step further by applying a sealant such as a Simoniz System 5 or Meguiar's Show Car Glaze and then layering a carnauba on top for protection that will last the entire season. Typically just one coat of the sealant on top will do the job though!TrafficThe start of the school year so you have more buses on the road, slow-moving traffic, and likely more delays for your commute. Exposure to more car exhaust and brake dust as you spend more time getting from point A to point B is a given. Again, paint protection is key but you can also deep clean the paint with detailing clay to remove those airborne pollutants. Meguiar's Clay, Clay Magic, and Mother's Cali Gold clay are elastic, synthetic clays that safely detoxify paint. Clay removes embedded brake dust, industrial fallout, tree sap, and bugs before they do any permanent damage. Traffic may also be picking up on your interior! Protect seats with Power Out foaming cleanser and either some all season floor mats or even those cheap throw away ones!WeatherTemperatures are dropping so for many areas, the air becomes dry as the humidity of summer disappears. The rubber seals, tires and even the leather seats in your vehicle are feeling the dryness. For rubber, use a protectant like Meguiar's #40 Plastic/Vinyl/Cladding polish, cleaner on door seals to keep them supple and weather-proof. Tires will benefit from either Meg's Tire Spray or purple High Gloss Gel. Soon you’ll be turning on your car’s heater for the first time and it's definitely a good idea to check your cabin filter if you haven't done so yet already.Just a few tips, enjoy!
You are the Martha Stewart of car care. "It's a good thing"Do you have any good pumpkin pie recipes?

Thanks Whelan for you liftetime of knowledge. I don't know what all of us here would do without you! I never knew that the acid in leaves can affect a paint job! I will keep this in mind during the season. I'll try not to go crazy if I see one on the car, I can just see it now...Driving down the road, leaf get's on car, Brent goes crazy, wife is wondering what's wrong, pull over, jump out of car, carefully remove fallen leaf from car, hop back in car... wife jumps out and hitches ride with total stranger. Keep up all the good car care tips!!
