CAI for '07 Base Vibe

ok so i have no knowledge on CAI stuff.....what do they do, are they worth getting in a base vibe....and where can i find one for my '07 if i decide on getting one?....thanks

I don't have one but the only company making them for the 05+ is Cosmo Racing. A CAI replaces your stock airbox and draws air from beneath the engine. The filter is located down around the drivers side fog light. Hotter air isn't as dense as cold air so you get more in the compustion chamber meaning mo' powah! haha most of the power is at the high-end of the RPM range tho...

Cosmo is the brand that I just installed. Other than a connection that IMO should have been welded instead of using a rubber gromet, it seems like a decent setup. And it's one of the cheaper CAI's out there, and I'd say it's worth it.

you have to watch for hydrolock with a cai, and buffalo is notorious for crappy storms so i went with a short ram... people claim to be able to tell the difference, and they are liars. haha, an intake may give you like 3-7hp and that is def not enough to feel. it will make it louder giving the illusion of it indeed being faster. plus i got my sri for like 90 bucks shipped. if you do go cosmo, you will need to oil the filter, as they do not come oiled, my .02 cents is get an AEM dry flow. No oiling, better filtration, and the same air flow.

7HP is about a 5% increase in power, that's significant. At $17.00 per HP it's also an excellent deal. I can feel the difference. I could feel the difference when I put electric cooling fans on my truck and it has well over 300HP. Every little bit helps.

i never said it was a bad deal, i think 90 bones shipped is a phenom deal... i love my short ram, maybe i didnt notice a huge difference because the day i took the car off the lot i had the intake waiting at home... maybe i didnt have enough before/after driving comparison. all i know if the cosmo is a smokin deal and i think the dryflow filter is worth it too, you never have to worry about killing a MAF sensor from over oiling because you dont oil it! and to the electric fans, i am assuming you switched from clutch fans or belt driven which of course will free up some ponies! less strain on the engine. OT since i put my intake on my stock exhaust has gotten loud... like to the point where people want to know what kind of exhaust i put on... i haven't touched it haha..

I am looking at Cosmos short ram for my 07 Vibe. Can't find any info. on state inspection. Don't know if it will past. I know K&N is certified but it costs > twice the price. Any idea. I live in Dallas, TX.

Its been raining here in MN a ton and I was kinda worried about my CAI. I just go slow through the big puddles and its been fine. I even checked how wet my filter was after driving home from work...barely moist. So I ordered a injen prefilter just in case. But yeah, cosmo is the one i hear is the best for 05+ drive by wire cars.

I think it was another recent thread I saw something about it, will these CAIs or SRIs throw engine codes? Also, what does it do to fuel efficiency?

in all honesty the cel thing seems to me to be over blown. If the filter isnt over oiled, then it should work fine. Theres always someone who will throw a cel from just driving over a pebble it seems. Every car is different, to be ultra mega safe, get a dryflow filter and clean the MAF when you install the intake and reset the battery.The intake if driven the same as before will increase usually. aka shift before 3k dont floor it etc. the problem here is once you get a intake it sounds bad (removed) so everyone floors it more....

If properly installed it will not throw a CEL. Fuel effidiency will go down for a while because you will be constantly WFO to hear the noise. After you settle down, it will return to normal.
