Pinstriping

Post by NibCrom »

When I bought my Vibe it had pinstriping on it. I was going to ask the dealer to take it off, but my wife liked it, so I kept it.But I'm already sick of it, so I started taking it off. Most of it is coming off easily, but some is not and parts of it are leaving part of the sticker. Any advice about taking these off?

Get a plastic decal applicator. Similar to a tool used in putting up wallpaper. You can get it off without damaging the paint and then use a remover for the adhesive left behind. If your really daring, get a razorblade and pry off corners at a time and peel them off. Works good.

theres a brand (forgot which) that makes "bug and tar remover" worked GREAT to get off the badges and we all know how stuck on those are, just spray that on, let it sit and it should come off fairly easy.

Goo Gone works well but takes time to use. Also a little gas on a rag.

I've used WD 40 on a rag to remove the glue. Worked alot better than those commercial bug and tar removers.

WD40 works well, but make sure you wash it off right after. If you want a safe alternative, a citrus based wax remover (found in ski and board shops) will work, although it takes a bit longer.
