Traded the G6 for...

Post by ragingfish »

A VIBE!!!Psych! It's a loaner. G6 is in the shop with some major tranny problems, but I thought it funny as hell that my loaner was a Vibe.Maybe it's an omen...

Quote, originally posted by northvibe »wth you cant pump your own gas?!Nope. Illegal to self serve. It must be done by an attendant. And no, prices here are not significantly higher because of that -- in fact, Jersey prices tend to beat out PA and NY - where self service is king.Quote, originally posted by northvibe »so do you have to tip them?HELL NO! Quote, originally posted by NibCrom »Why is there a law against pumping your own gas?I wish to hell I knew cause I'd much rather do it myself! They introduced legislation a few years ago to attempt to reverse it but it got defeated.Damn this state.UPDATE:Good 'ol interweb brings us answers!Quote, originally posted by Yahoo! Answers »Dear Yahoo!:Why is it illegal to pump your own gas in New Jersey?ChristinaMassapequa, New YorkDear Christina:The Garden State is one of two states where it's illegal to fill 'er up yourself. Only gas station owners or employees can pump gas in New Jersey and Oregon -- "the only two states atavistic, sadistic, and masochistic enough to still require thousands of 'professionals' to waste time, money, and inconvenience customers," according to one columnist. The ban on self-service gas stations is a highly combustible issue and makes for some heated debates. New Jersey passed the law making it illegal to pump your own gas in 1949. At the time, legislators felt it was too dangerous to have untrained people dispensing such a flammable liquid. That may have been sensible at the time, but pumping gas is much safer today, and some motorists feel the ban is outdated and needs to go. Opponents of the law argue that removing it would lower the cost of gas and make refueling much quicker and more convenient. Proponents of the ban argue that it creates jobs and customers like full service.Whatever your position on the matter, next time you're in Jersey and need to refuel, take the opportunity to relax in the comfort of your car while the gas station attendant does the dirty work. Quote, originally posted by joatmon »I hope its more reliable after the repairFrankly, I was shocked when this all started happening. At least two of my cars now have had a 4T45E in them, and it's been bulletproof (up until now, of course.) The other two, I honestly don't know about, but the 4T45E is so common and such a long-standing tranny, it probably has been in every one of my cars to date (Vibe excluded, of course).Quote, originally posted by joatmon »Don't get used to the Vibe, unfortunately you have to go back to the G6 But I'm using it while I got it! Tomorrow hauling tons of crap to the scrap metal yard that I've been putting off because I needed a day off (and a big enough car) to do it. It's an unfortunate sit-e-ation...but DAMN convenient too!

Oddly enough, the last two times my Vibe was in the shop (once scheduled, once not), my loaner was a G6.

Ah the 4T45E. It was a major factor in my trading away from the '04 Malibu. It started slipping during passes, where you could visibly see the tach fly past the target RPM and then settle down and there was finally a kick of power. Then the car started jerking at stops. I had the tech with me in the car and it did everything and yet the tech said that the tranny would have to fall apart before they did anything. Be thankful they are fixing yours.I'm sick and tired of the all the GM problems that aren't setting CELs yet the dealership hides behind the "no CEL" light as an excuse for not fixing anything (going through it now with a Buick Rainier that has a sluggish tranny and stalls/refuses to start sometimes).
