Hoping someone can help me. I'm good with computers but not so good with pictures. I need to find a decent photo of a particular celebrity and forward it to someone who is going to make a powerpoint (I think) and project it. All of the images I can find using Google images are low-res jpgs. They look fine when viewed in their default size (about 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" in Windows Photo gallery) but they get blocky when I blow them up.So I am wondering if there is a better place to look to get high-res images,or is there any free software that can be used to blow up images like these and make them less blocky?I'm using Vista.
There is only so much you can do with the information that is in the image to start with. There is no magic software that can take a little picture, blow it up (or zoom way in) and still see crystal clear detail. I assume you tried the google image search limiting the search for large images. Some of the projectors I have used will only display up to a certain resolution. SOmetimes computers can display in higher resolution than projectors, so it may be that viewing the image full screen on the computer makes it look worse than ti would on the projector. If you could find out the resolution of the projector, that would give you a target. If you really can't find a single image that looks good blown up, maybe you can put four together to fill up the space, they would be smaller, but maybe not as distorted as if you took one and made it fill the whole space by itself. You may chose not to, understandable, but if you post the name of the celebrity, we can all go on a web scavenger hunt for a high res picture of the person, as long as it is not going to be used to call in a mob hit on them or something else criminal.
I've got some High res photo's of celebs.... I'd have to kill you if I told you how I got them.... J/K.... good luck on the search, if you can give us the name, we might be able to help you out.
I'm looking for David Letterman. I need it for a trade show. I would be willing to pay a small fee (say less than $10) because otherwise I would need to go to the bookstore and look for a current magazine with him in it (not likely) or buy a biography of him, if there is one. (I do have a scanner.)I like the idea of having several small pictures because the caption of the picture is going to be something like "Dave brings out the best in his guests" and there are shots of him and various guests on Late Night.
If you are looking to use the photo for print, just using an image search on a search engine will most likely not bring the desired result. Most images on the internet are only 72 dpi (dots per inch) while ideal images for print are done in 300 dpi or higher. Maybe if you found a site that specializes in high res photos you might have some luck. Otherwise you're request is a bit difficult considering most photos of him are probably copyrighted by someone.
I have a way to find bigger images on Google, although the res will most likly be 72dpi (the norm)...Go to Google-> images-> type in David Letterman-> hit enter-> then click the drop box that says "All Image Sizes", change it to "Large Images"Also if you look at the dementions below the picture, it'll tell you the size of the image in pixels

I found one that's not too bad. Google search "David Letterman", no size filter, on Page 8 (fresnobeehive). Image size is 1760 x 1800 - 465k. Just wish he was smiling or laughing.
Copyright violations aside, Letterman was just at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana last week to dedicate a new building named for him, so I thought there might be recent close-up news photos.I tried searching 'David Letterman building Muncie' in Google Images, and got this link. It's a goofy picture with Dave in a tuxedo, ('cause Letterman is just a goofy guy) but it is 1024 x 778 at 200 pixels per inchHere's the link --> http://l.yimg.com/img.tv.yahoo...8.jpgIn case it's broken by the time you get this, I've 'right-clicked' on the image.

Otherwise you're request is a bit difficult considering most photos of him are probably copyrighted by someone. As stated above, printing a poster size image will require a much larger .TIFF file than anything you'll find on the internet. The celebrity has copyrights on the use of their likeness-image. So doing this without his written permission would be illegal. Also, existing images on the net or in print, whether news or otherwise, are copyrighted by either the photographer, news agency or publisher. Using those would require a copyright agreement from them also. Now I believe there are photo-agencies that supply celebrity images for a price. They have already bought the rights, or made arrangements for their use. However, I doubt you would get anything useful for $10 or less.
