This isn't for my Vibe, but rather my fiancee's sunfire. The hood has swirl and real shallow marks on it. She has a nasty habit of using the brush on her whole car after she scraped her windows. Now, the hood of her car looks like crap....what can I get/do to make this look better?
Zymol makes a cleaner wax that may help. I have used it on other cars of mine to make minor swirl marks go away with pretty good results. Remember to read the directions and apply it in a back and forth motion, not circular for best results. On another topic, my Vibe had some minor clearcoat damage to the roof where some pollen had laid to rest under one of the crossbars of the roof rack. Through the miricle of acid rain it caused some minor fissures in the top. It happened while the car was on the lot before I bought it and I didn't notice until a week later. Anyway the dealer has been pretty good about taking care of it. They were able to get most of it out in the detail shop and may have to buff out the rest or re-do the clearcoat in that area. I haven't tried the Zymol on it since I want the dealer to fix it. But the Zymol should work fine on your fiancee's car.

I would strongly recommend trying a polishing compound to remove the marks by hand first and then wax the area. Otherwise, it will have to be buffed out with an electric buffer. If that is the case, I suggest that you leave that up to someone with some experience unless you have experience with one. If you don't know what you are doing with an electric buffer, you can really mess up the surface. Polishing compound applied by hand is a safe and pretty reliable method. I would try that first. Good luck!
