My '06 Vibe is 13 mths old. It has 13k on it. I have a problem with the steering wheel. It is starting to get worn on the "T" where it meets the circular part of the wheel. What I mean is that the shiny, slick surface is gone, the porous rubber is showing. Also, the top part of the wheel is starting to turn white. I have tried several different cleaners/protectors and the white still shows. IS this a typical problem with the steering wheels or do I just have a problem steering wheel?
You might just have very corrosive sweat. I know that mine is worn looking, but not that bad. I just use a good looking cover to protect the steering wheel.
It may not be the solution you were looking for, but i'm with ajflan on the wheel cover.... Check out http://www.wheelskins.com/index.php I have one on my Subaru and wouldn't use anything else...!!
I dont have that prob with my vibe.....but i did have it with my 99 z24,had to have it refinished...but the vibe one seems to be more of a rubber than a foam like my z24.maybe u could post some pics for us to see.
