YouTube videos of Chinese-made cars that they soon will get away with dumping here. a sedan (watch for the flying windshield, and the front end crumple right in to the dummy) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F06LjugtIUoand an SUV (if the front end won't crumple into the dummy and kill him, the roof over him will.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7Ts94rjr4MThey must be made of the same plastic with the lead paint as their toys...
That's good, fail them all and keep the underpriced scrap out of North America. It's bad enough the Japaneses have basically unrestricted imports to NA. If Chinese cars are allowed the same priveleges, kiss the Big 3 goodbye.
The Landwind SUV got a zero star crash rating over in Europe when they tested it... Said it was the WORST vehicle they've ever tested. These are horrible! And thanks to Chrysler, who can't figure out how to make a small car on their own, we'll have some of this garbage within the next year or two. Here's a couple Cherys (the brand that Chrysler intends to import.) Not sure if we'll see any of these models, hope not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVQKDnDbn1YThis one appears to be the best one yet! At least the door didn't fly open. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYn2Q4OGWYgThese cars that crumple like tin foil will hold up very well when put up against the huge SUV's that way too many in this country insist on driving. If anything, it does make me feel better about the safety of my little Hyundai. It could be much worse.

Hell, that one probably didn't even have air bags... They're still a luxury in many places. If you can get them at all, you're probably just going to have a driver's air bag. Not like here where even entry level cars are beginning to show up with up to six air bags as standard equipment. If China will cut corners as severe as they've done with things as simple as a children's toy or ingredients in food or medicine as we've seen this year, I can't imagine what all they'd do with a car!

The smashing of the Smart was cool but I wouldn't want to be in it. It's kinda like it's gone back to the way cars were 30 years ago - the car passes on the impact to you instead of absorbing it by means of deforming the way cars with crumple zones do today. Back in the day, they could just hose out all the blood after the crash and sell it again, no bodywork needed. The Smart would require too much new plastic to rebuild it though.
