Ipod FM modulator quality

Post by mbergen »

Hi. I am considering getting an ipod, and have a 2006 vibe with the 6 cd changer. I currently have used the FM Modulator with both Sirius and XM radios and was fine with the quality of sound I got from them - I wondered if the sound quality using one of them with an Ipod FM Modulators would be similar as with the Satellite radio, or worse.I saw some of the solutions where you hardwire it into your car and am trying to avoid that if possible - am not sure if I would be able to do it or not unless it is fairly easy - I can study those more, but wouldn't want to mess anything up.Meg

I've got a modulator, and the quality is adequate. It's definitely not CD quality, but for general listening is OK. If you crank it up, the quality definitely drops a bit.Hard wiring will definitely give the best sound quality.

Well for the average person FM modulators are fine, if you want it to be proper, quality CD sound, hardwireing into the system or adding an aftermarket head unit with iPod capibility or a good AUX input is the only route... It "should" be of the same quality as the other FM mods you have...

For FM modulation get one that also powers your ipod. They work way better than just the antenna ones. I have a itrip and its okay but my friends Monster one, that also powers the ipod, gives it that little boost so it comes in better. Otherwise mine works fine when I have the itrip on a good station.
