Monsoon Subwoofer Enclosure - Removeable?

Post by ericamity »

I have installed a system in my car and I have disabled the factory amplifier and the Monsoon sub. I've replaced all the door speakers with aftermarket speakers. Question:Is it possible to remove the monsoon sub and the enclosure and put in a regular panel in order to get more space in the Vibe?

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem, you just gotta get the panel...

I bet there's a demand for that sub panel. Offer it for trade w/ someone with matching trim color- bet you could even get your shipping covered.
I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code

Thanks for the input. I'm taking my car in tomorrow . . . to see if I can put an aftermarket subwoofer into the existing enclosure. Right now I'm thinking that it may not work. But I'm hoping the tech at the small shop I'm taking the car to will take the time to look at the enclosure and give me a reasonable estimate on whether or not an aftermarket sub will fit. If I reach the conclusion that I cannot put another sub in there, I will likely want to remove the enclosure and get a new rear panel. I called my dealership today . . . and asked them about the piece . . . the guy who sold me the car said it would be very expensive. He's going to be calling me back with the $$ figures on how much that would cost. Does anyone know the size of enclosure that the factory sub is in? How much airspace is actually back there? What are the exact specifications of that enclosure? Do you think anyone would know that? Should I post this question in another area of the forum? Thanks.

I wish i knew more about the sub, but, i don't, mine doesn't have it (well, i don't yet have my Vibe in fact) and i've never delt with one... It's nice to hear you are going to a "mom-n-pop" shop for this though, they are usually much better to deal with on things like this... Be real nice, but, not a push-over, ask a lot of questions, but not to many... convey what it is you are looking for, but don't spend hours talking... Be patient. Also, how does the place look? Well kept or a crap hole? How do the people treat you, nice and polite or not wanting to give you the time? I know from my own expierences that all of these things are important... You need to create a good repore with them and they will treat you well...

well, I wish I wouldn't have gotten the 7 speaker system because the sound (in my opinion) is pretty poor. I really want to:a. either get rid of that panel and enclosure & have the normal panel back thereb. have a custom enclosure built within that panel (but that would be $500 to $1000 from what I'm seeing out there . . . not sure I could ever justify that)What color interior do you have?

Hi,I'm definitely interested in the sub panel/woofer/etc. Do you still have it? I have the regular panel that you're interested in. Let me know.
