To those you dont know of me, I'm Yank I started posting here almost a year ago. If I'm not to mistaken I'm one of the first VIBE owners in Metro Detroit (since May 2002).If you're wondering where I've been (vets) I've been working trying to upgrade my home PC and dealt with issues with my (old) VIBE.I never told you guys but my VIBE was having trouble starting in this brutally cold winter we just had. Any time the temp fell to single or sub zero temps overnight I could either barely start it or even not at all. I mean there was no power in the car whatsoever. My first fix was of course a new battery since the factory was only 330CCA and I usually get a better one anyway. So no big deal right? Well that battery gave up on me too (DIE HARD GOLD). So what do I do now. Well come to find it wasn't my battery after all. It was my car alarm in which was also aftermarket. If you've heard some of my war stories of the past you would have seen the need for it. The tow truck guy (1-800 ROADSIDE) told me that it's not uncommon for this to happen to cars that have a cheap alarm on it. It could possibly kill your battery. But he told me since it was newer that the last one it's worth saving if you disable the alarm. So of course two days later (SAT MORN.) I immediately went to get it taken off. Before that I had to stop in Detroit for some grooming and then to alarm shop. Well after my radio shutting off and some crackle noises coming from inside the dash area. My car shut down on the road about 8 blocks from where I left. I went to call 1-800ROADSIDE (again) to call a truck. 20 min later I walked back to the guys and it was on fire (yes on fire). Fire truck were already coming before I could call 911 myself. Yes the car is a total loss and still pending paid off from the insurance company pending investigation, so of course some of your replies I can not fully answer for legal purposes until it is over and done with. But anyway I called up my original dealer and told him what happended and he and the owner (Bob Jeannotte) wrote me up another deal with GMAC and I got into another one. Base model Neptune, Moon & Tunes Power Package, Cargo Mat. I just picked it up on Monday and put my 18's back on the very next day. (those were taken off for winter of course) So I am a reborn VIBE owner and glad to be back on the boards here. Hello to all the new folk, Salsa, Frosty, Nick and those whom I have missed.Oh yeahI'm working with my dealer on that Sports Package and Supercharger for those of you that are looking. And I've got some tech stuff I picked up getting an oil change. May be of some use.Later.
Welcome back Yank and glad to see you are okay after the issues you were having with your Vibe!Hope to hear some details on the cause of the fire once the investigation is complete.
quote:Welcome back Yank. Hopefully you'll have more luck with your new Vibe than your last... yours was the one that got broken into was it not? That is correct
quote:Welcome Back Yank. I think I am one of the newer members on here that has joined since your return.Maybe I will run into you sometime. I am always over by Ryan or Dequindre by Hall Road. I bet the alarm system caused that fire too. Well, glad you are back in the Vibe. Remember the link below is the old one. I have to take a new pic and get with Nick to update the link.

I'll fill you guys in anything else comes up.
Not dissagreeing with the small battery thing but as a side note, larger CCA batteries live a much shorter life usually. I live in Canada and had good starting all winter. The coldest plugged in night -35C the coldest not plugged in night was about -25C with no trouble.
Shadow two tone, 5 speed, 16" alloys, power group, ABS safety group, 6CD, 200watt. Love the car.
