Holes in the hump and/or floorpan.

Post by edro20 »

I am trying to mount a mobile computer desk (thrilling, I know) in my Vibe and the instructions call for the base to be fastened to the floorpan or the hump that the console sits on. This install entails using self tapping screws to anchor it. I have no problem doing this, BUT I don't want to punch a hole in a fuel line, brake line or parking brake cable, etc. The location of the floor mount is on the passenger side either on the right side of the hump or the floorpan right in front of the left, front seat mount bolt. Any ideas? I called the local dealer and the 'genius' I spoke to didn't have a freekin clue. So here I am asking you guys. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

From experience of taking out the carpet in our cars. I can tell you that there are no wires under that section of the carpet. As far as being worried about hitting some lines. Just decide where you are gonna drill down at, then check under the car to see if anything is in the way.
Bye Bye Vibe.............

wires and gas lines run down the sides of the car there shouldn't be anything over on the passenger side thats where the exhaust runs.

Hi and Welcome.!Old rule of thumb, "measure/check twice, cut/drill once" You REALLY should look before you drill.... We can tell you things, but until you yourself confirm it, who knows... 100%

Went in easily. There are no lines or anything in the area mentioned. I had to tweak the duct under the carpet to make it work, but overall it went in no prob. I'll probably go back and replace the screws with nuts & bolts to make it a little stiffer if need be. Anway, thanks a million.
