I recently got over the poverty line in America, which has finally allowed me the money to possibly start tweaking my anemic 03 AWD Vibe. From the two forum posts below it definitely seems the Injen CAI is the way to go in the AWD to avoid check engine lights, but it still makes me nervous that Toyota itself thinks too much torque would be bad in the AWD model. Long question short, who has actually put a CAI on an AWD? Have you had problems? Am I just being paranoid? Is Injen truly the best way to go? Lastly, my Vibe has a rediculous amount of miles on it--- 180,000 Miles on a 2003. Before I even consider any of this should I go to a Toyota shop and have it looked at due to the miles?http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=24899 CAN-AWD-VIBE did it.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1116 Shows the Injen as the winner
I have had an Ebay CAI, a Cosmo Racing SR and a Weapon-R Secret Intake on my AWD Vibe with zero problems or CEL's. The AWD can handle the torque of the GM Supercharger, so it surely can handle a CAI or SR. As far as having anyone look at it, just continue with your regular maintenance schedule unless you have an existing problem that needs attention. You shouldn't have to get it looked at just to add a CAI.

I have done it (2006 AWD). Ran into a CEL (still ongoing) P0440/P0441. Used the K&N Typhoon system. seems the injen or the cosmo are the better options for SR or CAI's (from what i have read) for the AWD. Blue Crush, could you help me out in diagnosing this problem? multiple pics of your setup (lots of the evap canister and the routing of the hoses) and the 'fixes to make it work'. I have added on a K&N oil/crank case filter, and i think i just may have the hoses running the wrong way. Thanks
there was a little tool thing people bought to fix cai's when they got cel's.. weapon R makes one, I thought I saw something over on matrixowners and newcelica.org..id look more but Im at work currently.....
1) P0441 : Evaporative emission control system incorrect purge flow 2) P0440 : Evaporative emission control system Sounds like you have a hose loose on the charcoal canister in back or a bad gas cap.

I do remember when I got my TRD cai, lots of people complained about that cel. I zip tied the evap (i think that part) so that it was upright. I think I have a pic at home... Bluecrush did about the same thing, I havent had a cel ever.
I put the Injen CAI in my 03 AWD and the only problem i have had so far is that the filter was pushing against the fog lamp. I just readjusted it a lil bit and fits like a charm. But no codes or CEL's

Fly,Pics of set-up? also the hoses running to and from the evap module. i think that is why i keep throwing the 'P0441 :Evaporative emission control system incorrect purge flow'or could I have damaged the module by having incorrect flow when i first installed it?
