jammed cds

Post by ketzel »

We have two cds jammed in our '03 factory installed cd player. Our car guy doesn't deal with audio and we don't want to take it to the dealer because they're so slow. Is this any easy thing to fix? or Are we looking at the cost of fixing being as much as replacing? Any input would be great. thx

OK, been there, done that. Here's how you get them out:This will require 2 people and patience. 1. Find someone to shine a light into the CD slot. 2. Using a thin flathead screwdriver, insert the tip just enough to move the door inside the CD slot and turn it right or left, the door will open( you'll have to hold the screwdriver in place, door is spring loaded) and you will see the CDs sitting on top of each other inside.3. Using a pair of tweezers, try to get a grip on the top CD and slowly pull it out. If you can't grab just one, try both, but go easy, you don't want to damge the spindle they are resting on. If you do get the top CD, the other CD should eject on it's own. I did this a couple years ago and that's how I got them out. The top CD is probably already damaged, I wouldn't be too concerned about scratching it with the tweezers.
