speaker replacement help!

Post by theodo155 »

I have a 2003 with a moons and tunes audio system. I have blown my passenger side front speaker. My question is should I just get another stock speaker or should I buy some thing else. I spend a lot of time in my car. I thought that I read somewhere that non factory speakers conflict with the window going up and down? Also just put an AUX device in. Its fantastic.

I have the same set-up. I upgraded to sony 6.5's it's a real easy mod.Just drill out the rivots on the old speakers. save the plastic housing to bolt the new speaker to. Heck just go here.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=785I reused the front housings instead of the rear housings. they were better for us with the moons and tunes.

The cheapest aftermarket pair you can get, will already be better than the paper cones you'll be replacing (even with moon-and-tunes). Clearance should not be a problem if you stick to shallow speakers. Remember, with your moon-and-tunes, you already have separate tweeters mounted by your side mirrors at ear-level, so you don't need to buy the deeper, two-in-one speakers (a midrange with a tweeter protruding in the center) -- a more shallow single speaker design will be just fine, and will not get in the way of the window.

Can you still by a single speaker design? Any place you would know of would be great.

Have you tried the Crutchfield website? I bought my HUD, and door speakers from them.
