just suppose

Post by scherry2 »

Just suppose you are the proud owner of a base vibe and you wanted to improve the low end torque just a little, maybe pep it up a little. And you had say $300 to $400 to spend what would you do?

I'd come on here and ask everyone else what I can do, of course! Cause I know JACK about cars! ROFL!
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Stickers! Lotsa stickers! And summa those bling bling lights! Then empty the air outa all the tires and fill em' up with fresh air. That'll really speed things up. Then, if you got any money left, put on summa those funky lookin' pedals and hang a big (removed) cross from the rear view mirror. Tint the windows for even more speed. Tongue in cheek. Sorry, had to say it.

I was thinking about those neon lights they mount under the car they have to help the car go fast at night then if i put taller tires on the rear it will be going down hill all the time that might help won't it?

fipk from k/n, drop in air filter from k/n, header, zex kit or nx kit, kind of hard to get more torque out of a 1.8l for 400 bucks

Cold air intake adds some torque, but not too much. It is a nice mod to add to your Vibe though. I definately recommend it.

I would buy a CAI and Hyper Ground wires. That would be like $350 total or something. I'm not sure how much low end torque they would give you, but it can't be a ton. The base Vibe has more low end torque than the Vibe Gt.-Slink

I dunno 'bout you guys but a simple "type R" sticker on the back of my vibe gave me 'bout 47.3more horses.... When you don't have much cash, time to make sure all the 'bits' are working as they were intended:- tires inflated to the right pressure- oil at right level, not too high, not too low- filter fresh and cleanSpending some cash you could pick up a high performance ignition wire kit, use a good synthetic oil (tranny & engine), use a drop in K&N filter (clean it often)... CAI is good but takes some work - drop in K&N will give some benefit for little to no work - you pick the effort!Oh yeah... don't forget the type R sticker Unfortunately there's no easy or cheap method to get much more bang in our little vibe.

To complement the TYPE-R sticker... How about a VTEC sticker... Uhhh.... wait a minute... LOL! I've seen a few TYPE-R Cavaliers, so a Powered By Honda Toyota would fit right in. And just kidding there, not that I'm flaming a rapidly growing subculture. To each his own...Anyways, I'd like to have a little more end grunt myself... I sure miss driving GM cars with a V6 that has tons of power at low RPM's. But the gas mileage is great, and so far this has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to deal with...
