The new color for 2004 will be...sunburst! We are already building pilots as I write. This is the color Pontaic should've used at SOP, like the show cars were painted. It's bright! Also, look for Onstar and a XM style sattlelite. Now if they could just put those baad 18" rims... More news as it develops.
LOL I have info on the sport model Vibe they will have at SEMA. I'll have a full write up on Monday but it will be coming from the factory with 18s!Keep the info coming.
Thanks for the inside info on the new colour 'Sunburst'. Exactly what is 'Sunburst'? Do you have a sample chip or a photo. Is it Yellow, orange, red, pink?
I'd assume it's the same as the current "Sunfire Yellow" used on other Pontiacs: See the survey on the main page: http://www.genvibe.com/index.shtmlHere are some other pics of what it will probably look like:
Or maybe this? (the new Cavalier's are using a yellow like this)I actually like that, with the chrome rims... might get old after awhile due to over-saturation.
quote:Some cars do look nice in yellow, but other NA!!! example of bad yellow.... SUnfire, Cavaliers!!!Being near the Lordstown Assembly Plant (Cavalier/Sunfire assembly), we are already way over-saturated with these vehicles.. The yellow got real boring with these vehicles within a few days. Now it seems they are everywhere.I guess as long as the Yellow on the Vibe isn't as saturated, it wouldn't be as bad.
So, when my Frosty Vibe arrives in two weeks and I paint it bright yellow according to plan, for ten months people will think it's a Protege 5 or a Focus, since they come in yellow, and then it will look like just another '04? So much for exclusivity!
I do agree that every damn car I see is yellow. I will see upwards of 30 Cavaliers/Sunfires/S-10s a day since GM offers that color on everything. I didn't mine my brothers SC2 Saturn, but now it's a common color for GM. I say leave it for the Vette.
Bad News Bulletin! (or not, for those above who are sick of yellow):This just in!I understand yellow has been cancelled for '04, as of ~ Nov 08 On the up side, mine will be exclusive again when I get it dipped in Ferrari Fly Yellow...
I'll have to admit, Drew: That's a NICE color! My Vibe is Neptune Blue, but fortunately not an ordinary blue. Even it stands out against all the silver, white, red, and other cars in the huge lot where I park. But that orange seems as though it would set nearby cars on fire!KSNeptune.
quote:The new styled Vette totally SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! You mean, the "new-styled Vettes" that have been in production for 6 years now? I'm confused..... And, what about them suck? Don't hold back; tell us what you REALLY think.
I think it would look nice in Jade (A Toypota Color)

Vettes are such dinosaurs. Wasteful, environmentally damaging, and totally impractical unless you have only one friend and one suitcase to transport. Totally useless in inclement weather. Yeah it would be fun to drive one on a racetrack, but not on a road with other vehicles around. Seems like most Vette owners are trying to make up for inadequacies (either perceived or real) in a certain bodily organ.
New Corvettes knock down about 26mpg on the highway, so how are they "wasteful and environmentally damaging"? Just STFU unless you know what you're talking about, and besides that line about them being for people with "inadequacies" is the oldest, most unoriginal quip in the pantheon of feminist anti-automotive slang ever. Go buy a Subaru and hug a tree or something. Oh, and as far as my opinion on the new color - it's a little too bright. Sunset Orange Metallic would look awesome on the Vibe...!

These are fun cars that use little gas and weight little. They make better daily transportation to and from work than a big SUV which gets under 19-mpg.quote:Totally useless in inclement weather.Ever hear of traction control? And like I said above, these are fun cars. They aren't cheap and most of the people who can afford to buy them have other cars for bad weather.quote:Seems like most Vette owners are trying to make up for inadequacies (either perceived or real) in a certain bodily organ.Get real.
I would like to see a metallic orange like the one GM has on the Cadillac CTS called Copper Sunburts. I love that color! I would trade my Vibe in for that! (Just kidding)Here is a pic:

You said it before I had to.Besides, they are claiming that the Vette is "only" getting 26 mpg? (removed)? My Vibe is currently getting 21 mpg consistantly for an even mix of highway and city driving. I guess that I'm REALLY wasting gas with my TOYOTA 1.8L 4-banger then. Compare my 180 peak horsepower to the 300+ horsepower, refer back to the fuel economy data, and then tell me what car is wasting fuel!!! And Nova said it all, if you can afford to own a Vette, you can surely afford to buy another car to use as a daily driver and winter car. And I'm sure you wouldn't be too concerned with your annual fuel costs, either.Rear wheel drive, 2-seater, high power sportscars dinosaurs? These are long lived American icons that are still as popular as when they first came out, if not more so. And they just keep getting better. So be careful not to bruise that tree when you hug it or else those wacko greenpeace members might ban you from their group.

I can get 30-31 mpg in my Corvette. Just have to drive them in a "fuel efficient" mode. Same as any car.Even my 1993 (10 yrs old now) dinosaur can still make some of the current cars of today look plain silly. That's with ZERO mods. This winter after I play with the engine internals a wee bit - I'll be in fine shape Wont be a ferrari killer or anything - but its quick enough for me.And to return to the topic - the orange would look pretty to me. I may be in the 2004 boat if I cant hurry up and find one in the next week or two that we want.
Exciting as it may be, I am not going to run out and buy another one (yet). Afterall, I am the only person in the house who drives. If I win some cash, I may buy one for summer and drive my current one for the winter......hahahahaha....what am I saying, I would be off to the nearest BMW dealership.
