Lock button doesn't work, yet key fob does?

Post by guilty »

Just noticed this today...I have been in the door panels recently changing speakers so I don't know if I messed something up. When i press the lock button inside, it won't lock the doors. If I press unlock, it works fine. The key fob works fine locking and unlocking. Any ideas?

you probably bent one of the connector terminals on the switch on either the front passenger or front driver door. I had a similar problem with a window switch.

Is it easy to fix or need to go to the dealer and have something replaced?

You have to figure out what's going on before we can tell you easy or dealer... It could be as easy as messing up a connection (pulled out) when you put the door panels back on..

if memory serves me correctly, if the driver control panel is disconnected (or has a bad connection), all controls are affected. I would recommend removing the driver panel, checking the connector, ensuring no pins are bent out of shape, and then reseating the connector. If that doesn't resolve it, I would suggest a dealer visit. I don't believe an issue with the passenger door will affect all the other controllers...just it's own door.

I would pull the door panels off the front two doors and look into the connectors and see if a pin is bent or pushed back into the housing. If you need a hand let me know where do you live in michigan??
