Hey folks,Just wondering how far you've been able to drive on a single tank of gas? Also, where did you happen to go during that time? (without having to fill up)Just curious. Thanks,Steve
I spent an evening sleeping in my '89 Buick with my family in the Mr. Fuel parking lot in Falls Church, VA because I wanted to see how far I could go on a tank of gas. When the gas level is low, you stand a good chance of burning out your fuel pump, because the gas acts as a coolant for the motor in the fuel pump. Trust me. The next day, I spent the whole day laying in the rain dropping a gas tank, and changing the fuel pump. Trust me, this is a very bad game to play.
In the Trix, hmm 360-380ish going to upstate NY and back.In the Civic, ha, like 480. Driving to Fairfax, VA and halfway back!!In the Saturn, not a clue I was young and gas was cheap, never worried about mileage. The fience's Jeep we pulled just over 300 once, woohoo!!!! (20 gallon tank)
412 miles for my 2005 Vibe... driving to and then home from the Michigan meet this past weekend. I still could have went farther, my "get gas you idiot!" light had just came on and I was passing a gas station with gas cheaper than I had seen all weekend, so I filled up. I'm sure I could have squeezed another 50 miles or so out of that tank, but I didn't feel like taking the chance. That was an average of about 40mpg for me, which I was extremely impressed with... having my cruise set at 80mph for most of that trip helped out a lot I'm sure.

Well there's really no way to tell what you would get on a "full tank" of gas unless you went until it was dry. I normally re-fill with a quarter tank left. Don't like to play chicken with the fuel pump as that can get expensive.Best so far has been a bit over 412 on 3/4 of a tank with all interstate driving. That would factor out to about 550 for a full tank. But, I would never push it that far. Heck, I've still not seen the low fuel light yet.

Well I'll add that I just got about 195 miles on the first 1/4 tank. beats my previous record of about 160miles on the first 1/4 tank. While I would love to see that rate continue I know it wont. There are lots of tips to get better mileage and i think the top 2 are inflate tires to at least the recomended point and to keep your speed under 67MPH.
