Ipod Help!

Post by Sputnik »

So I got the 8GB iPod Nano for my b-day today, but I can't get itunes to work at all. Anyone heard of this/know why? And my ipod constantly says "Do not disconnect" and it never goes away when the ipod is plugged in - is that normal?

are you sure you are using a usb 2.0 port? Also do you have the latest version of itunes?Once the ipod is plugged into usb it will say "do not disconnect" and will do so until you either "eject" in the os. after the eject it will charge and you can play tunes on it. aka eject in the OS but do not unplug from pc.

You mean stopping the device in the windows sys tray?

ah windows, while the ipod is plugged in and connected to windows and pc. If you look in the bottom right corner, there should be a gray square thing with a green arrow going over it, that is the USB device list that are active. hover over that icon and left click and hold, it will show a little list and then just click the ipod one. it will eject the ipod. This means it disconnects the software that link the two so its save to unplug the ipod from pc running windows. So if you leave the ipod plugged in then it will just be charging AND you can run the movies or music etc.OH ok itunes not seeing ipod. Go to http://www.apple.com/support/d....htmlthat link. Its the ipod updater program. So plug your ipod in, wait till windows see's it, then run that program and it should find the ipod and ask if you want to format it. If it does not find the ipod then your ipod is broke and you need to get it exchanged from the purchase store or call apple to have it repaired under warranty.hope that helps!

I've attached the downloadable iPod nano features guide. It's about a fairly large pdf, about 1 megabyte. Chapter 5 tells what to try when it stops working.

Attached files iPod_nano_2nd_Gen_Features_Guide.pdf (954.4 KB)
