The lever on the left side of the steering columnoperates the exterior lamps. The sidemarkers are in the headlight housing and they are on when you turn on the parking light and continue on when you turn on the headlamps. Please see the file that I am attaching here.Pawkar

If the sidemarker lamps are not to turn on when the parking lights are turned on, then which lamps are to be turned on according to 'Euro Standards'?The Vibe attempted to accomplish the side marker lighting by placing the turn signal lights at the edge of the housing assembly, allowing the light to shine on the side. I believe that these turn signal lights do not meet the criteria provided above as they are not true side marker lights. Also, what brings this up? Did you get a citation for it?

Are the vibes "parking lights" the blinkers as well? My vibe is in the shop at the moment but to me...they might be from my memory. Otherwise the only way if they were a seperate bulb is to pull them out or wire them to a switch.

Well it seems only the headlamps should be on when you turn on the parking lights, Europeans haven't grasp the idea of sidemarkers yet or maybe they want to be different to the americans. The reason for this question is that my MOT renewal is on hold for a month until I will make this modification to the car otherwise I wont be able to drive the car. Does anyone has an electrical chart or diagram of the wiring of the Pontiac Vibe lights? I would like to look at it, hope to just unplug one cable and solve the problem.Warm regards,Pawkar

yes the sidemarkers are the blinkers as well, they are the same. When you turn the parking lights are on all the time, just when you are turning they are blinking. In Europe these lights they only need to blink. Do you have a wiring diagram of the Pontiac Vibe lights?Pawkar

There are two filaments in the bulb - one for the brighter one such as what is used when the turn signals are on, the second is of a much lower wattage that comes on any time the parking lights are one.I haven't looked at the wiring for it, but I'd guess there are at least three wires - a ground, +12V for the parking lights (lower wattage side of the bulb) and another with +12v for the turn signal (higher wattage side of the bulb.) In theory, if you could just snip the wire going to the lower wattage side of the bulb, you'd accomplish exactly what you are wanting to do. You'll still have turn signals but no parking lights.

Dear Colonel,I did it this morning and now is EU Standard. I did not snip the cable at the back fo the light there are two contacts and I just cover one of the contacts (parking light) with electrical tape and now I only have the blinkers. The lamp on the driver side is difficult to take it out when I was almost given up I manage to take it out. There is not much room to put your hand behind the sidemarker lamp.Warm regards,Pawkar
