Well finally after 4 years I am actually going to start doing some real mods to my 03 GTFirst couple of projects, a Cosmo CAI which I should be getting next week, and second an Exon Science Auto Dimming mirror.I hope to be able to make time to install these items in the coming month. Will try to keep the group updated.

I'm hoping so. I originally wanted to go with Injen, but they only listed 1 CAI for the Vibes and I seemed to remember reading a few years back that there used to be an 03 GT specific one at one time. I didn't want to order one and not have it fit, so I went Cosmo.I'm considering a TWM short shifter too, but I don't know how well it would work with the stock knob since they heavily suggest getting the weighted ones. I'm pausing on getting the knob because they don't provide shift maps on them. From a recent e-mail:"Hello Herbert,Unfortunately at this time we do not offer this style of shift map engraving on our shift knobs. TWM Performance does plan on offering this option some time in the near future but at present we do not have much of a demand. We hope to offer this type of MAP engraving some time early next year.If you should have any other questions regarding our shift knobs please do not hesitate to ask.Best Regards,Brenda PlumbTWM Performance"

I thought about tinting too. I'm not too worried about being too spendy at the moment. Realistically it's hard to justify spending money on my Vibe when I hardly drive it. I'm probably more likely to buy another printer, but that's another story.I work alot on the road and the company provides me with a vehicle so I don't do alot of recreational driving since I'm already driving the days I work.Quote, originally posted by keithvibe »is that all.... what about tinting the windows good start.... it only makes your pockets lighter now that you started... your hooked now

Tinting the windows is an excellent place to start... makes a big difference in appearance and functionality (ie. keeping the car cooler during the hot summer months). I know it helped a lot with my car.

To be honest I don't have a problem with appearance of the stock rims. Other than some nasty curbing that needs repair I think they look good.If I were to drive the car more, I'd have a seperate set of tires and rims, but as it is I don't. I'm not sure if I even drive 50km a month. And I know I don't at all in the winter.Quote, originally posted by kevera »So do rims

I mean you cover it 90% of the time and if you drive stick it should be 2nd nature?? I hope you don't shift, look, shift, look, shift, look, shift......
I'm not worried about me. Though realistically I'm the only driver, one can't tell what may happen in the future. I may be incapacitated and someone may have to move the car, or I might have to drop it off at a shop somewhere and for sure there'll be an idiot out there that will assume it's a 5 speed.Quote, originally posted by Sublimewind »Is there a reasion you NEED a "shift map" on the knob?? So close yet so far. Did they send me the wrong one? The instructions weren't the best so that didn't help.

OK, I figured a way to do it. Don't follow the instructions. I slid the rubber coupling all the way through on the intake pipe, then positioned the pipe to the intake inlet and pushed the coupling over it.

Install complete! Took an extra hour over what the instruction manual called for, but it's done.Sounds pretty cool and I think I feel the extra ponies, or maybe it's the heat. It was a scorcher today. at least 30 degrees Celsius.

Nice job, looks good and now you will see your self flooring the gas pedal down a bit more to here that noise of the cai suck up the air. lol .....nuvibe
At idle the sucking sound is pretty cool.I took another test drive last night when there was less traffic. WOT is LOUD, and that's even before I hit lift. When I did hit lift it was a rush! Totally new experience, I don't recognize the car at all. This definately has made the car more fun to drive.I'll try to do some audio captures later today.Damn it, now I'm considering catback Magnaflow. Gotta wait, spent too much money this month. I should be getting my TWM short shifter this week as well as ES Motor mounts.Quote, originally posted by nuvibe »Nice job, looks good and now you will see your self flooring the gas pedal down a bit more to here that noise of the cai suck up the air. lol .....nuvibe

How close is your filter sitting to the fog light housing? I had a heck of a time getting mine to fit properly, I thought they sent me the wrong one as well... kind of frustrating till you manage to get it to work correctly, then it is all worth it.

You may want to get the intake a bit more lined up. from the looks of the photo, it appears to be offl. The stress on that rubber cuppler will cause it to rip in half in a very short time.

It's not too bad. The CAI came in two pieces and was cut off just before the resenator hole under the battery tray so I was able to adjust the fit quite easily so right now it's just resting next to the foglamp.Quote, originally posted by Toasted7 »How close is your filter sitting to the fog light housing? I'll admit the fit on the top portion of the CAI was very tough. I'm almost convinced that the bracket for the vibramount is off.Anyway I pulled back the coupler and tried to shove as much as the CAI into the intake port so there's no more stress on the rubber. Thanks for giving me the heads up.Quote, originally posted by keithvibe »You may want to get the intake a bit more lined up. from the looks of the photo, it appears to be offl. I tried being fancy by zip tieing my voice recorder in the engine bay and it picked up alot of misc noise in the engine bay. That and rain, hail and traffic didn't present ideal conditions for making a recording. In the end I grabbed the voice recorder and used it in the cabin to record this clip. Hit lift twice but ran out of room on the road.

Well, I finally decided that I'm going o run my Vibe into the ground and as such it is time to start making "my ride". Tints for sure...followed by new brakes (still have the original) and maybe a new sound system...from that point we will see where we go

I was going to get a CAI but do not want the car to be any louder than it was stock! All aftermarket intakes are loud, due to the fact that it is an open air filter. so no matter if you go SR or CAI, you will get a loud noise. But it is not as loud as you think.
Is the only differance between the Cosmo CAI and the SRI a few Hp gain? Well other than the price differance. Also has anyone istalled eithe rone on a base 2005 vibe, any difficultis or problems?

is hydrolocking your engine that much of a possible issue with CAI's? From what I have read you have to have the whole intake area submerged which I would think would require atleast 6+ inches of standign water, unless the vehicle is really dropped to the ground.
Well then I'd also wonder whether or not your area is susceptible to flash flooding as well. Earlier this summer in Calgary there was a big storm and some areas ended up under 4-5' of water.Of course any car can hydrolock if driving into that deep amount of water

Honestly, no UNLESS you constantly drive in HUGE puddles with the rooster tails that last several mins. There are by-pass valves that you can mod in to your cai.. there are splash sheilds ((((I have one on mine))))If you were driving down a country road with 3-4inches of standing water on the roadway for a few miles yes it is indeed possible to hydrolock your engine.Just use caution if you go with a CAI.As you can see from my CAI it rest above the fog light area and has a splash shield on it, So unless you remove the foglights and extend the cai closer to the ground no need to worry.

with as low as the cai filter itself sits, how do ut ake it off to replace/clean it? from underneither the car or have to pull out the battery and stuff to get at it?
My intake tube sit right against the back of the headlight housing and actually rubs against it. I know it shouldn't do that, but I have tired to reposition it numerous times and to no avail. It bounces against the headlight housing when I hit small bumps in the road and it sounds horrible... I'm thinking of just removing it, but then I will give up the extra little bit of power it gives and the cool sound. Doesn't help that I'm getting a CEL. Think I may need to have my computer reprogramed to be able to handle the extra air coming in. Sucks to be me.

Hey guys, I installed my Cosmo CAI a year ago. I noticed that there was a second solenoid with two vaccum connections that wasn't mentioned in the installation instructions. It was attached to the stock air box. I left this solenoid loose after the install, but should I have plugged off the two vaccum connections? What exectly is this solenoid for? Just a bit of background; '03 GT
