Yesterday I backed up into a concrete abatment and put about 8-10 DEEP scratches almost 1/8"deep in my rear bumper. Anyone know of a filler/fix? Looks like a claw just ripped into it.....
if you can find someone who is good i think they can fix it with some type of bondo and make it look like newi was thinking about doing that to a couple parts on my vibe to save money on repairs
To have this fixed so that it is unnoticable, some bodywork will most likely have to be done. If the scratches aren't terribly deep, they will probably just sand them out and repaint the bumper (would probably cost about $200-$300 USD). If they are too deep to sand out, an appropriate type of body filler would be used and then the bumper would be sanded and repainted (should still cost about the same to repair as the first method mentioned). If you want to go the cheap route, get some touch-up paint for your car and apply it in the scratches to make them less noticable. Since the scratches are deep, you would still see the grooves, though.

I have heard that there are shops that specialize in just that sort of thing. They fix the plastic bumpers for much less than a regular body shop. Much like the dent guys spoon out dents for much cheaper than a body shop. Maybe try to find one in your area. I suspect that if you were to call one of the dent guys in your area, they would know if there was a plastic bumper specialty shop around. Good luck.
Hey pappyI have seen your post on a couple other sites with nobody posting replies. Good to see that this place atleast have some people with an idea. I just detailed out my car today and noticed that I have 3 places in my bumper that rocks have made huge dips. It kind of makes me cringe to see it on such a new car -Slink
