Post by DopeVibeGT »

Did a search and didnt see anything. Anyone get the bigger brake kit from Powerslot? I'm thinking of getting them and just wanted to know if anyone has them and could unlighten me on how good they are.

I have the Powerslots and they are incredible, used them on my last 3 cars. As far as the powerslot plus. Alls it is is a larger rotor that uses your existing brake calipers. It has an extender to push them out so it all fits fine. They offer no additional stopping power than the traditional powerslot, it is akind of a faux big brake kit that gives the appearance of bigger brakes. Also notice the footnote on wheel size and space needed to install.

If the rotor is a larger diameter and the pads are moved out then they should have greater leverage to stop the car. In addition, the larger rotor surface should be able to dissipate more heat. I don't personally have any interest in them since I don't want to go to a larger wheel size, but they seem reasonable for someone who likes larger rims.

TrueFrom the powerslot site:The Power Slot Plus system uses a larger diameter, premium quality Power Slot brake rotor combined with your original factory brake calipers. Our patented caliper relocation brackets space the factory caliper further away from the hub to accommodate our oversized brake rotor. This increases brake torque force without affecting pedal effort or travel. The larger rotor is also a more effective heat sink, absorbing the heat generated under heavy braking. This greatly reduces brake fade and provides consistently shorter stopping distances, especially from higher speeds. NOTE: All Power Slot Plus brake kits require the use of larger diameter wheels. Check the dimensions of your wheels carefully before purchasing.

ok off topic just a bit, i have an 05 GT and its not on their list. i also know that i have disc in the front and back, and my hand brake is a drum style hidden inside the rear brake rotors. is the 03-04 like that as well?

For the GT's you need to look at the Matrix XRS, it's all the same parts except the body

i think aem bought powerslot or vice versa. if you check on newcelica.org you see all the people complnaining about uneven pad wear from poorly designed relocation brackets.this is only true on the bbk's that use the stock calipers and at the time aem was pretty much the only person selling them.if you have aftermaket rims triple check clearance.
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

I don't think Powerslot has been bought out, they may have just introduced the item to compete with AEMs kit as an alternative. Plus keep in mind that Powerslot recommends Hawk pads for their rotors (why I have no idea, Hawk HPS especially are crappy IMO). But I would think if they were in cahoots that they would be sponsoring each others products somehow.
