hello there, i recently bought a new 2007 Vibe for my wife. traded in her 2004 Ford Escape. kept the payment the same but save $100/month in gas. so far we have topped out at 32 mpg but only have 1600 miles on the car.we like the car so far. the space/economy ratio can't be beat.i do have a couple questions. 1. the AC doesn't blow as cold as i think it should. i have noticed others mentioning this. is there a mod i can do to improve this? i'm sure the black interior doesn't help things.2. is it OK to wait till 5000 miles for the first oil change like the manual suggests?Rob
First off, welcome to genvibe. As far as the Ac, alot of people have insulated the line inside the engine there is a thread on it you just have to use the search. And as far as the 5000 mile change, i have always done 3000 to be on the smart side. Here is the link-http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4914
Welcome to the site! My thoughts... Do the first oil change at 1,500 miles... It is "the engine break in oil" and the most critical change because the engine is using it to break in. Otherwise after that you can wait 5,000, what your manual states you can go with normal conventional oil. As far as the AC. Do the mod if you want; cover the hoses with pipe insulation... However today's AC systems can have less then a pound of refrigerant and just do not work as well as the older. Unless you are on a non-stop drive. Stop and go drives will not blow the AC as cold.
Welcome! I go with the 3000 mile oil changes since I'm on the conventional oil too. It's cheap enough. When I had my Altima, I used synthetic and would go 5-7k without blinking. Never had a problem!
Pandora the 2006 Pontiac Salsa Vibe, 17"wheelsMods: tint, "Pandora" windshield decal, front badge skull overlay, rainguards, hoodguard, Projectorz headlite covers, black painted grills, FIAMM dual-tone horns, black grafxwerks overlays, redouts, Genvibe decals, splashguards, scangaugeII, 12v console outlet, DRL interrupt and I turned off that @#$% seat-belt beep! upcoming: red interior LEDs
Welcome and congrats! Pics...Pics!!! LOL I have my oil changed every 3,000. I've noticed too that newer cars just don't have the ice cold A/C like the old freon system ones. My '88 Grand Am would have air in the low 40's.
