Bolt pattern?

Post by keithvibe »

Ok, I have always thought that our car has a 5x100 bolt pattern. The other day when I got my rims i thought hey, take off the stock rims that came with the car put on my wifes snow tires off her cavlier(which by the way is a 5x100 bolt pattern as well) and take off the new rims and stock tires to get changed over. Well, I get out the snows and take off the stock tires and go to put on the snow tires and low and behold... they didn't fit... I was like WTH... they are sopoesed to have the same bolt pattern... Anyone look in to this recently? The new rims i got are a combo lug pattern... 5x100 and 5x114.3 so it's possible that the vibe has a 5x114.3 pattern?

Hi Keith,Crazy thought here but is it possible that maybe there are hubcentric rings on either the wheel itself or on the hub of the car that is preventing the wheel from fitting right on the other hub?I know that with my new wheels, the tire place put the rings on wrong so that instead of them being on the wheel, they were stuck on the hub. The spare and anything original wouldn't fit on right if the hubcentric ring was left on the hub itself. And it could be possble that if the hubcentric ring is left on the wheel, it may not be the same diameter as the other car's hub. Could that be the case?Dave

They both have 5x100.I have a sunfire too.I swap rims back and forth for winter and tire burning sessions. If your cavy rims are 14 inch, they won't fit around the brakes. So they have to be 15inch and bigger.

The rims are 14inchers but the problem wasn't fitting over the brakes it was the actuall lugs. They didn't line up.

The 14's won't fit on the Vibe.Let me see if I get this right. You tried to put the cavy rims on the Vibe, right. The 14'(removed) the brake caliper or the hub(I forget right now) on the Vibe.Been there done that.I've had J-body's for 9 years.I have a sunfire and an older Z24.Anything 15 and over will fit.

Here's a pic of my cars, wierd picture, but the rims fit all of my cars. The 14's have a smaller hub.I have an 89,97 and had a 2000,they all fit each other.Don't mind the wiper in the pic.

ahahaha. That's beside the garage,I built a brick pad there to park it,it's hard to see. It's a j-body graveyard.I just sold that baby,it's fast and super loud. The neighbor's will be glad to see that go.Anyways, the 14's won't fit.I have 3 sets of sunturd GT rims that are winters for all of them,so I know they fit.I tried the 14's from the 89 on the Vibe, wouldn't fit,the hub(or the caliper). But you can use the Vibe rims on the wife's cavy.

Yeah, use to be,and j-body.com here in Ontario.I never had any problems with any of them though.I met most of my good friends through that site. But I feel much older than most now. It's more of a young guys crew.I've moved over to the Vibe/Matrix scene, more people my age.
