so i've decided that since i'm gonna be turboing my car when i get back i'm going to need to upgrade my TC and tranny as a manual transmission is going to be a lot of work and not a whole lot of time for it. Looking around i see that level 10 is a pretty reputable company. my question is when level 10 is redoing my tranny. would it be possible to have them change my final drive ratio so that I could possibly have a higher top speed?? or would that screw up the ECU too much?

You first have to find a way around the speed limiter. Unless the engine managment you are going to use can eliminate that. Besides, your turboing your car. You don't need to waste an extra thousand dollars with the final drive gear. You'll be going plenty fast! With the tranny upgrade, check out some local tranny shops. They may just be able to help you for the same price but without all the shipping expenses. That reminds me, I need to go in for my FREE year end tweek on my tranny. When I do that I'll see if they remember what brand of shift kit they put in mine. Supposed to hold up to 500hp, but guarenteed for 300hp.One more thing to think about. Raising the stall rate of your torque converter a few hundred rpm. Mine is just under 3k rpm (I think it's 2800rpm). It'll help with your launch when racing (at a legal sanctioned track event ). Helps prevent wheelspin and hop and let you hook up faster. It's just a little annoying for street driving until you get used to it.

the speed limiter can be taken off by one of greddy's 250 (esitmated) controller deals, forgot the name, just got back from the bar, but it will take off that 1zz speed limiter of 115.
Quote, originally posted by joholste »... how would i raise the stall limit? is that something in the ECU?That's something the tranny tech can worry about. Maybe it was the Unichip, but mine was 125mph. And I would just get an stand-alone engine mangament that controls everything. You can get a better tune (=more power) then, too.

Quote »the kit i'm getting has the hydra EMS unit with it can i do it with that??You tell us...? But seriously, i don't wanna sound like a jerk, so please don't take this that way.... But, if YOUR turboing YOUR car souldn't YOU know more about it..?? The Hydra EMS "may" be able to do something with your speed limiter (i haven't read about it, but you should be) but nothing with the stall speed of the converter.. Usually when you buy a new converter, epically a performance one, you get to choose your stall speed... or from a range of factory set speeds... Please, don't be that guy that turbos their car and then buys a "(removed) dyno" to tune it... Time for some research man...
