Here's a link for kits to rebuild our engines. They have a kit for the 1zz(base)#25 and a kit for the 2zz(GT)#30.It's a great way to cut the guess work out.The 1zz also have turbo kits.http://www.importperformancepa....html

Good find. I wonder how much labour would be to build up a 1zz engine. I basically use my vibe as a weekend car and I wouldn't mind having a turbo in there.
Quote »Toyota HP Engine KitsIPP's High Performance (HP) Engine Rebuild Kits are designed for building motors for expected HP increases above stock. Our kits include everything you need to build and protect your motor from small to large HP ranges and up to 1000 HP (including use of turbochargers, Nitrous, Superchargers or all motor on gas)This is a build-up kit. It uses stronger internals so you can go for higher boost levels or do all motor applications with out as much risk as blowing your engine. I imagine the parts add a little power but not 60hp
i was tryin to figure out even after i posted how those things can net you that much gain without a change of the entire intake manifold, exhaust system and turbo/sc additions.

So yea, 60hp seems doable with the 11.1-1'z Quote »i was tryin to figure out even after i posted how those things can net you that much gain without a change of the entire intake manifold, exhaust system and turbo/sc additions. Again, 11.1-1 C.R. pistons could do it... then you would most likely need a valve job and different cams to though... lets not forget the ARP head studs and any other fastener needed to handle 11.1-1 CR
if you look at the parts they offer a bigger bore and bump the compression up. that is how they squeeze the extra power out of the vibe gt is because the compression is steeper. kit #25 would net you some decent gains.. but you would have to have them install it, esp if it needs a bore
oh ok I didn't see the different piston options hahaThe compression ratio for a 03 GT is 11.50 - 1 so it's feasable that with that option, Whelan, you could have yourself a AWD GT or something very close at least.
ok, who is going to ask them to do a group buy on the oil filters?http://www.importperformancepa....htmlI could see myself buying one but not at that eye poping price tag.I would consider it, if it was under 45-50bucks.

Well to prep the car for boot your really need to drop the CR down to near 7-8.1-1 for thing to be proper, the drop in CR helps with preiginition of the already compressed mixture getting compressed up to critical mass before the spark...
I have a question, I have been considering an Individual Throttle Body (ITB) but I am not sure of the gains, and would I get a large bang for the buck. Those things are around 2 grand a pop. Plus, would this damage the block due to lack of filter, and how about the air sensor?
Unless your completely building the motor for N/A power individual throttle bodies are going to make your life a nightmare... You have all electronic control on the motor, including a input air sensor (MAF or MAP or the like) to consider, just taking that out of the loop is not going to work unless you step up to stand alone engine management.
