it can be no larger than 70x70 pixels so you'll have to edit the size in some image editor...I used photoshop

You can upload a picture and the forum software will resize it to fit a max size of 70x70 pixels, but if youy upload a huge picture, it will likely look poor when resized to that small. Also, the forum software says the upload limit is about 3 MB, but it seems to be more like 1 MB. Having gone though a period where my broadband was down, regressing to dial up mode, I appreciate the size limit on images.Usually, before I upload a picture to genvibe, I crop it and resize it. Crop cuts away all the unimportant stuff on the edges of the picture, resize so that the uploaded file is a reasonable size and also so that it doesn't take up too much screen space, for people who don't have huge monitors. By cutting away the extra unimportant stuff around the main object, you can make the most use of the image space for the stuff that matters. Sometimes the whole picture matters, like in a nice landscape shot, but almost everything I upload here has been cropped at least a little.I recomend a program called irfan view, true freeware http://www.irfanview.com Thre are probably other similar ones out there, but I use irfan view for such things because it is small, launches really fast. ( I assume you are on a Windows PC because apparently if you had a Mac all you have to do is wish and it knows what to do. ) I use other software if I want to get fancy, but for a quick crop/resize, irfanview is great. And free.In irfan view, load up the picture, and hit the minus sign to zoom out until you can see the entire image. Then click and drag to draw a box on the image around the part of the image that is important. As you draw the box, the window title bar will show you the size of the selection area, useful if you are trying to keep it square, or some particular aspect ratio. If you mess up, just click outside the box to clear it and try again, or click on the edge of the selection box and drag it to where you want it to be. Then use the menus, Edit -> Crop Selection to cut away everything outside the box. Next, use the menus Image->Resize/Resample and enter in the size you want the picture to be, hit OK. Then in the menus, File->Save As and save the modified picture as a new file (so you don't lose the original) Now look at the file size of the new file, make sure it is reasonable, and you should be good to upload it to genvibe. If you want to upload an avatar, it is probably a good idea to resize it to 70x70 to see how it will look. 70x70 is pretty small as far as images go, you will lose detail. But that is better than having a 3 MB image in line with every post Also, the two most popular file formats for images on the web are GIF and JPG. GIFs are great for diagrams and other things that only have a limited number of unique colors in them, but photos look a lot better as JPGs than as GIFs.
