Pictures and comparison of the HIR bulbs Finally!

Post by Whelan »

Ok ok ok, I know I finally got them up. Just took them twenty minutes ago. And for pourmeaguiness, IM SORRY! lol.Anyways here they are.HIR on the left, OEM in middle and Silverstar on the right Notice the bulbous shape of the HIR and it has a cloudy look to it, that is the infrared coating. The shape helps to refract the light back to the filament.HIR on the left driver's bulb (right side of pic) and OEM on the right passenger side bulb Note how much brighter the HIR is, this is a dead on shot and both bulbs were aimed to match.Again, shot of the HIR on the drivers side and OEM on the leftYou can see the OEM is duller, this was taken from about 20 feet away. Also note how wide the beam on the left is compared to the OEM on the right. Both HIR bulbs are in, notice how much wider the beam is again and brighterHIR's from the side and head on with yellow fog overlays from YcartLike I said, not as whitish blue as a Silverstar but far brighter and wider.Down the roadDown around the corner from my house

The bulbs came from http://www.jdparts.com. You have to find a local dealer and call them asking for a 9012 low beam HIR bulb for the 9000 series tractor. They most likely wont have them in stock unless you live in the midwest or something. The tab is simple. I took a pair of wire cutters and snipped carefully. I also wore latex gloves so as to not touch the glass with my bare hand. I'm not about to wait another 2 weeks for a bulb. There is also a guy on Ebay who sells them too. I got mine when right before they became too popular. JD caught on that a lot of people were buying them and clipping that tab to fit their 9005 and 9006 bulbs, so they ramped up production from Toshiba and jacked up the price. You used to be able to get them from JD for $9 a piece, I paid $11 a piece. Now they are about $23 last I checked. GM dealers actually sell them to as they were OEM equipment on the first gen Viper. But they charged $110 a bulb!!! So check out JDparts.com or look them up on Ebay
