I just got home from a road trip to Western Pa. My Vibe got 38 m.p.g. !!!! My average speed was 70 mph most of the trip. Pretty sweet The seats leave something to be desired, though. My back was killing me after six hours.

NICE, what's your secret, lol. I like the seats, but every half hour I readjust it, either by lowering it, reclining it a hair, raising it, or even just getting a pillow for my back. I make it, but it starts hurting after about 8-10 hours
No secret. Maybe it's the 5-speed. I thought the milage would drop when I hit the mountains of WVa and Pa, but it didn't. I used cruise control as much as possible.

My last 2 tanks have gotten me nearly 39 mpg... and all I've been doing is driving back and forth to work for the most part It's mostly an open country highway tho. The hot weather seems to help, and I don't run the A/C unless i'm on a freeway...

I always figured it was the gas I buy. I have tried all of them, but I get the best mileage out of Gulf gas. Avoid Sheetz gas at all costs! I've had problems with it in my other car. Stop at Sheetz for a sub, but go somewhere else for gas!
I don't think I'm getting that much. With our crappy roads, with peeling surfaces, potholes and debris to avoid, and the stop-and-go traffic, I doubt it's even close...I find it helps not to use 'discount' brand gasoline...
I'm going on a long road trip to Myrtle Beach I'll see what I get. It won't be anything like youguy's though. GT's don't really get good gas mileage, or maybe it's my heavy right foot.
Yep! Great gas mileage.Just finished a 800 miles round trip to Lubbock.Going...68 mph, no air and got 40 mpg.Return...68 mph, w/air and got 36 mpg.Saving $$$
chi chi, When you going to MB? I am only a skip away from there. Maybe me and the wife could pack up the vibe for a day or so and head out there. We usually try and get out to the beach once or twice a month.

I average 30mpg around town with an AT Base. But, I got a solid 40mpg on my last road trip driving 65-70 with about 30% AC. But, that is in relatively warm and flat Florida. Anywhere near that in the mountains is terrific!
