Oh the love of no half stop sunroof!

Post by Whelan »

Did it this evening. Radio Shack item 276-1101 Diode. A pack of two for $.59 Pull apart the components and soldered it to the 1 and 2 pins at the top left of the circuit board. Made sure the silver part of the diode faced right. Re-installed, viola!!!I love not having to push twice, what a difference!

Those were the pictures I used, printed them out. Very easy to follow. The hardest part for me was holding the diode in place while soldering. I have a little kit of tools and a nice little spring loaded clamp but it kept popping out. I also made the diode wire length slightly longer, bent it to shape (take your pointer and middle finger and bend them down slightly, thats what it looks like). Soldering was fairly easy. I simply got the solder and put the gun to the terminal, melted a good blob of it. Then put the diode wire there, remelted the solder I blobbed and had it crawl up the wire to secure it. Very sturdy solder I might add. For the novice or beginner, have a steady hand and be patient, you don't want to have solder connecting two terminals, it will be damaging when put back together.I would also highly recommend testing it. Once you have the black box put back together and clip it in, try it out, it's weird to see the first few times but I love it.One last note: On the top of the black box there is a small extension that clips over the set of wires through a zip tie. Carefully pry it out and to put it back in I put the black cover back on, screwed it in, then popped the clip back onto the tie. This way you are sure to have those little white pieces for the buttons back in place and secure.
