Air intake Questions... Lots of them!

Hello,I'm looking into buying a new air intake for my '03 base Vibe...I was looking at Cosmo Air intakes...Is it worth it to go with the CAI compared to the SAI?Will I see any performance gains with the SAI?Will these work with a throttle body spacer?What kinds of performance gains am I realistically going to accomplish?Are there better deals then Cosmo's for Air intakes?With a CAI should I be worried about mud getting into the filter?Can I mount a better Filter to the end of the Cosmo pipe? If so... How big?Any other tips you can give me would be good.. I want to know more about this before I drop any of my $$$... Thanks for your time!~Jon

Thanks for your time!~JonI will try to answer your questions the best i can. i have an 06 so they are a little different.- CAI is better the SR due to getting much cooler air- performance gains between the two is not too much apart- they will work with a TB spacer-not usre about the performance gains, but you will feel more top end power- Cosmo is the best deal for the money- you really dont need to worry about mud unless you go rooting, water may be an issue if you have to go through alot of water, but a bypass filter will fix that- there are other filters to go with, AEM has filters for it and other companys who sell a intake for our carsThis is my setup with the bypass filter from AEM just incase water gets into the filter in the wheel well. It is a Cosmo CAI

What's up,OK,Cosmo gives you best bang for the buck.Go CAI over sri.The only throttle-body spacer I know of is the Helix.If you use the spacer,you will have to cut the intake an inch or so.Some have,But I haven't,replaced the Cosmo filter with an AEM dry flow filter or an K&N filter.It's up to you.I recommend the intake,sounds good and gives pretty good performance.Good luck

How would one go about installing a bypass Filter?

When u get the bypass filter there is a template with it. so all you have to do is find a good spot to put it ( like i did ) trace out the template and then u have to cut the section out. it is about a inch that u cut out.

They are expensive.Check ebay and I know this place sells them.To be honest,I have never needed one in any of my vehicles,but If your worried about getting water in it,then get one.http://www.neverenoughauto.com...=2238

Unless you plan on dunking the complete filter in water at some point, a bypass is not needed... A little water mist in the intake is actually a GOOD thing, to a GIS on water injection, interesting stuff...
