My 2003 AWD Vibe is making a ticking noise from somewhere near the glove box. The noise is also consistent with a variation in the speed of the A/C blower motor. I am guessing that it is related to the resistor bank that seems to have failed on every vehicle that I have owned recently. I would love to fix this myself, rather than pay the dealer to do it.Thanks,Chris
On the last car, I once had clicking relative to fan speed... Thought for sure the blower was gone. Took it out and found a leaf in there.Maybe you'll get lucky. But it could be the door for the recirculation function... Something with that mechanism became stripped on a few people's cars... http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4456Welcome aboard, by the way.

Also check the cabin air filter. Dirt, leaves, sticks etc. gets caught at the filter and has caused whines in my blower. Replaced the filter and the noise was gone.

I'll check for something in there, but the ticking noise occurs when the fan is turned off also. My wife said it sounded like a dripping noise, so I though it was something with the heater core, but no wet spots on the carpet. My fisrt test was to see if the dripping noise happened when the engine was off, it did. So I went over a put my ear near the glove box, sounded like a tick instead of a drip. Hmm, next test, turn the fan to max, the tick kept to a constant interval, turn the fan off, same. Like I said, I suspect the resistor bank, but I am sure there are plenty of other electrical gizmos in there that could do the same thing.I don't think I explained the speed variation with the motor, the rpm of the motor changes with the occurrence of the ticking noise, almost like the motor's speed is surging. Thanks again,Chris
Did you ever figure out how to fix the ticking noise coming from your Vibe glovebox? I just found this article and my 2003 Vibe GT just started doing this after I used the AC for the first time this year. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, gee, I am trying to remember what the exact problem was. Some kind of door in the A/C system. It cost us like $300 to have the dealer replace it. I hope that helps.
