your most missed car?

Post by injun_josh »

what is the car that you have had that you miss the most? mine is a two way tie between my 1987 rx7/w racing beat exhaust, greddy cai, jacobs ignition coils, ported throttle body, ported intake plenum, jacobs wires, and to top it all off, a street port job with 3mm 1 piece apex seals. that car was so friggin fun, enter a corner, down shift to third, punch the gas, and counter steer the skid. plus is was always fun telling the guys in mustangs, that just got their butts handed to them, that my engine was smaller than a honda civic's.. good times. the car that ties my rx is believe it or not was a pristine 1992 ford probe gt (turbo).. it had a cai, 2.75 exhaust, 16g turbo upgrade, aluminum charge pipes, greddy sequential bov, manual boost controller, set at 12 psi, and a port and polish job. this car could not launch to save it's life.... to much weight on the rear... but once that beast got rolling, it was like strapping yourself to the front of a rocket!!!!! to give you a idea, a friend of mine had just got his built b18 back (ls motor, non v tech) and had recently ran it at our local track, where he pulled a 14.4. couple of nights later he was following me and ran up on my (removed), i punch it, so does he..... i was walking away from him at a pace of about a car length every second. god that car was fun... so tell me about yours.

My most missed car is missed not because of the car itself, but because of the things that happened in/on/around it.

My first car, '70 Dodge Dart 340 Swinger. Not a Hemi but plenty quick and gas was 28 cents a gallon back then. Wow, to be 19 again and know what I know now. http://moparmusclemagazine.com...w.jpg

My first car. A '79 Chevy Malibu. I've only owned two other vehicles besides that one, but I still love that one the most. I got it from my Dad when I was 14 with 160,000 miles and returned it when I was almost 21 with 225,000 miles. She never missed a beat. My Dad loaned it out to the daughter of the woman he was dating and it ended up throwing a rod when it was driven without oil from a punctured oil filter. How that happened remains a mystery. I bet that car would still be going strong today if not for that.

I had a 93 ford taurus LX 3.8L v6 that had over 50 more torq than Hp so that sucker ripped off the line. Had all power seats, moon roof, super stereo with sub. OHHH the times with that car, then it blew a head gasket as we didnt get it done before, knowing it would break at about 130k. It was fun beating other people in a sleeper though :D

hmm I would say my last car. The 02 Civic EX Coupe. I was in store to get either the Buddyclub2 kit or the Factory Performance kit from Honda for it, drop it about 1", add a camber kit, 17 Racing Hart CRs and was looking into a turbo. I miss it cause it was my last standard car, it had a wicked exhaust on it (apexi Worldsport II). Just love love love. If it didn't have the oil burn issue (1 quart ever 1k miles with only 70k on the odo) I would have still been driving it regardless of its crappy winter performance.

84 Chev Celibrity

Post by vibe-04 »

I called my 84 Chev Celebrity "Angus" because it was stubborn and wouldn't quit.It had a flat trunk lid, ready to serve as a table or "anything" that was on offer Oh to be single again..... I drove it for years through salt winters without a washer pump. I would drive up to trucks to get the spray to clean my windows. Once in Montreal, the salt dried up and I had a white windshield and couldn't see at all, I grabbed my friend's Coke, opened the window and sprayed the windshield. The gas tank had a leak at the mid seam so only a half a tank fill-ups, the tires never matched, but the 2.8 wouldn't quit... 350,000 KM and i drove it to the wreaking yard with a busted CV joint, rusted out floorboard and the door skins falling off. What a beast, it never let me down.

The car I miss most would be my 70 1/2 Z28.My dad had the car growing up,mint, mint, mint. He was bit of a gear head,so he had it all fixed up.Unfortunately, after the first summer he gave it to me(I was 16)A bunch of idiot kids burned down 3 garages on the same block. Here it comes,The camaro was in one of those garages that burned down.I think about her everyday,I grew up in that car.It was a great bonding experience for me and my dad.

I gotta tell ya, right now I'd miss my Vibe the most. I'm not just typing that, either.Excluding the Vibe, I'd have to say my '96 Mitsubishi Expo. Not a lot of power, but it sure could haul a lot of stuff for a microvan.

First car: 1987 Honda Civic Hatch.. carbureted, slow as (removed) - 68 hp, but crazy good on gas, handled amazingly well for a tiny box, and well, it REFUSED to die. Definitely miss it.

1977 Firebird Formula 400/auto. Ran consistent mid-12's with a 12.10 as my fastest time. Didn't drive worth a damn on the street (high compression, low vacuum, wouldn't idle, headers burning your feet right under the floor), but man it would move! Can't believe I used to drive it to school almost every day (except Winter) back in the 80's.Remind me to tell you guys about the time the gas pedal stuck at WOT. Had to pull the seat vinyl out of my (removed) crack on that one!

My most missed car was actually my dad's 1969 Cougar Eliminator with a Boss 302 engine. I was too young to drive when he owned it.

Not sure I'd say it would be the "most missed", but it sure was fun. A '62 Chevy 2, with a 302 small V8 and a Corvette transmission and rear end. Not a pretty box, but talk about a sleeper that would blow away a Chevelle SS or GTO of that time. Also, had a Sunbeam Alpine which was a lot of fun. But, I think my Vibe will be my favorite of them all.

I miss my 1988 Saab 900 Turbo SPG, but only for for the exhilarating acceleration. The insurance cost was ridiculous for a 6-year-old car, and the ride quality on anything but smooth roads was awful. The car's nickname was "J.C.": It was originally owned by a minister; I bought it (used) on a Good Friday; it bled (leaked oil) all over my driveway; and you'd feel that turbo kick in at 3k rpm in 3rd gear and yell Jeeeeezus! It was also the only car I ever sold for quite a bit more than I paid for it!BTW, this was NOT my car, but it's the same year, color, & model.

I'm with Zuben--I would definitely miss my Vibe the most. Had a 95 Pontiac Sunfire that was the first car I actually picked out and purchased by myself without my Dad's help--I loved that car until I started having problems. At the end I was afraid to drive it. Before that I was the youngest person EVER to drive an '85 Buick Century (old lady car, but man, that thing was loaded), and I had a Geo Prizm at one time too. So most definitely the Vibe!

My favorite was my 1969 Thunderbird, 429 ThunderJet, 4 door(suicide rear doors), 65mph in first gear. My second favorite 1969 Pontiac Beaumont, my first car. It shares the same body syle as the Chevelle.
