attention all 03 gt ownersneed some help on something. i looked under the dash today to try and fix the starting problem since it has gotten to the point where i had to reach under the dash and push the button to start. when i was looking at it i relized that when you start to puch the clutch in the entire bracket/unit moves probably 1/4-1/2 inch. DOES ANYONE ELSES DO THIS???also as u just start to puch it it seems to have play where he pedal connects to the cylinder arm (seems like pin might be worn out)any help would be be nice
Hi Raivis,I didn't check but I have peeked under there a few times to install pedals, put on a rubber bumper so I didn't have th mash the clutch to start and also to try to fix a sqeak and all I remember seeing was a simple pivot point. nothing was loose like what you're describing. I have noticed the pedals and their mechanisms seemed mighty weak so it may be possible that something happened to yours, whether it came unattached somehow or maybe broke? If it's out of warranty, which I'm assuming it is, take it into a Toyota place and have them check it unless you're still in warranty and/or had good service from your GM place.Dave
I have an 03 5 speed, although I expect the clutch pedal is the same as in a GT. Just checked mine, and nothing moves or bends that isn't supposed to when I move the cllutch pedal.I have a rubber spacer taped to the part of the clutch pedal that hits the clutch to start switch, before I really had to mash the pedal into the floorboard, now it's the way it should be.
