I noticed today that on the underside of the steering wheel you can see the 2 gold screws (one on each side). It looks like there should be a plastic cover over top to fill in the holes but it's not there. I bought my car new and have never had any work done so I'm not really sure where they would have went. Are they supposed to be missing?

Those screws hold the air bag assembly in place. Mine are not covered.

When I did a search for steering wheels though someone had hooked up a stereo control to their wheel and it looked in their pic that the holes were covered.

Mine didn't have the holes covered either. Nothing I've ever owned that had a driver's air bag had the bolt holes for the air bag module covered. Very few would notice it, so I can see why they would leave this out. It's totally a Toyota steering wheel too, just look at the Corolla, so it wasn't GM being cheap. Hardly anybody would notice them, so they get to save a couple bucks. And makes it one less thing that air bag thieves have to rip out so they can steal the thing.
