Quote »"I have a kawasaki 1990 ninja ZX6 for sale. Information: Year: 1990 Model: Ninja ZX6 Miles: 14K 6 Speed transmission => The bike has been garaged since Nov 06 on south campus garage, and hasnt seen snow or rain during the course of storage. => Before the bike was garaged, i was converting the rear tail of the bike to a 2000 ZX6R tail. As result, the rear fairings are missing, but it comes with a 2000 ZX6r tail to complete the conversion. => The engine, the frame and everything else is perfect shape, and the frame is polished. => The front fairing has a crack near the left indicator, and could be changed. You could get brnad new replacement front fairing for $289 from airtech.com for this model. => The ignition wiring is ripped off. I guess someone wanted to take the bike without my permission. Free Stuff: i will give 2 free helmets, one brand new. I will give brand new2 Vance and Hines Titanium Exhauts pipes with the bike. The bike already comes with 2000 ZX6r tail. I ahve the seats too, but i cant find them.. THe bike is not perfect right now, but with little effort it could be. I have realized that you would have to spend some money on the bike. so i hve kept the price really low. Keep in mind that the bike was being riden till july 06.Things it needts to get it running. 1. THe only thing that it needs to get it runing is reattatch the ignition switch which is broken. The switch is $45 from freewheeling motorcycle in tonowanda. That is it. Other than it needs the tail, which is your choice. you cn buy the oem part from ebay for abour $30 or finich attatching the 2000 ZX6r tail.upto you."i can pick this up real cheap, sound like a good deal? i saw pics and it looks clean but i cant hear it run because of the switch being broken... opinions please.
If you have experience with working on them I'd do it, but it sounds like it needs some real work. I bet you could find a decent used bike that is still in one piece for around that price.

I've been thru a number of bikes over the years and my advice is to be very careful. If all it needs is a switch to make it run, why hasn't the dude spent $45 and installed it himself so you or anyone else can hear the engine run and the gears shift. Wouldn't it be easier to sell a bike that runs vs one that doesn't. Sit on the bike and turn the bars lock to lock paying close attention to how close the bar ends are from the tank, left and right. If the bar ends are not equal distant from the tank, when turned left and right, you can bet it's been down hard and the frame/forks/triple clamps have been bent, maybe only slightly but bent just the same. Have you ever heard a motorcycle phrase called "high speed wobble"? If the frame geometry is not perfect, a wobble can occur even at relatively low speed with serious consequences. NADA shows a 1990 Ninja ZX6 at $1185 avg retail and that's running. See if the dude is willing to spend $45 and install the switch so you can hear it run. If it runs/shifts ok, offer him $545, if it doesn't, I'd walk away.
I agree with what DJB said. If he can get it running I'd pay that lil extra mainly to prove thats all that it needs. That way you dont end up spending what you paid for it in repairs later.

the reason it is selling so cheap is he is moving to floriday today... in about 4 hours. he is also selling his 92 prelude and other misc things he cant bring with him, i.e. furniture. he had a higher price on it, but it didnt sell yet and now he is leaving so he just wants something for it. he will sell me everything for 500, and i can have the whole bike rewired for 150 bones. the only thing then is finishing the tail, i havent seen the bike so i can only speculate. after talking to some people they said even if i ditch the 2000 tail and go back to oem the parts are like 30 bucks on ebay.. i could easily flip this bike for 1500 once it is fixed and rideable.but this guy isnt returning phone calls, i hope he didnt pack his cell phone, i really wanted to go out and see this... part of me wants it and part of me hopes its gone so i can spend the money and things for my vibe.
