The Feeler...

Post by VIBEwithanO »

So, I'm relatively new here (a couple of months now) and love everything Vibe-ish. Sadly, nothing of that sort seems to be going on in my general area (I'm in Southern Wisconsin, on the Mississippi). In talking to some people (BlueCrush rocks), sounds like people would be interested in having a meet in this general area, but no one seems to have the time. Well, I've got it, but want to know what kind of interest there would be before I put time in. So, who's interested? Right now it seems like July or August would work best, sometime before school starts. Easiest for me would be to do it in my area, or somewhere close.Tell me what you think, I'd love your opinions.

LOL! Thanks. I would be up for second half of July or the 1st half of August. Preferably on a Saturday. It would be a nice 3 Hour drive for me. Maybe if there are others in the Twin Cities that want to go, we could Convoy down there. Your near the river. Any parks available or events along the river during that time? We could Beach it and BBQ or go for a cruise along the river, and eat some where also.

So that's two.It would definitely be on a weekend, probably a Saturday. There are a couple of places we could BBQ here, and that sounds like a ton of fun. I'm checking on them more for details this weekend. We'll probably do a BYOM (Bring Your Own Meat) and cook up something nice.July 28th or August 4th looks good to me, though things could change that. Definitely somewhere during that general time.Looking to hear from you all![edit]Oh yeah, shameless BUMP for the new name...

Depending on where "general area" is and how far it is away from me I might be willing to make the trek out there. The Michigan scene is dead so I'm up for a road trip for sure.

My 'general area' is South-Western Wisconsin, La Crosse, to be specific.

I'd be up for that since we Trixes have to run with the Vibes up here. LaCrosse would only be marginally farther than last year for me and I had a great time. My car doesn't get driven much, so it'll need to stretch its legs some, by then. I'll keep checkin' in. Riverside cruise sounds cool.

Sweet, someone else. This is looking to be a good meet.North suggested we post on the Trix site, and sk8r drives one, wondering if either would be kind enough to link this one over to MO to see if anyone else would be interested there. I'd sure appreciate it.Bump for Monday, hoping to see some good responses this week!

Bumpity-bump for those who missed it.For the rest of us, looks like we're probably going to have a river run/bbq. There's still tons of decisions to be made, mostly by me, so if I get one or two more interested people, I'll start looking at making things happen.Tell your friends, we'll have a good time.

July 21st or August 11th are best for me. I'm leaning toward the 11th. I'll post this in the events forum as an actual event and get opinions for the dates as soon as I get details (tomorrow). I'd also like to know if we'd rather eat out or have a barbeque. Either is fine with me. So post your thoughts and I'll get things ready for a big announce. Thanks to all for you help and wanting to keep this going.

Yes, I'm very aware I went silent on this matter. 7/21 is looking good, I'm just trying to find a venue. All the area parks and barbecuing areas are reserved for our dates (every on in the city, surprisingly). I'm checking with a local church and should get a call this evening. It's got a huge parking lot, indoor kitchen, grass, bathrooms, all the good stuff. Would that bother anyone? 7/21 still going to work?

Well, I just got off the phone with the man who schedules the church I was planning on, and it's booked. I'm scrambling for a venue, but I'm going to make it happen. Any suggestions?Date is still the 21st. Let's plan on meeting at our soon to be found location at 1pm. It'll be in the general La Crosse, WI, area, so all of you coming from longer distances can plan for that time. Hopefully you won't have to get up too early. I'll get the address as soon as I can.Wish me luck.

Well, I believe the problem is solved. I found a park not too far from here that has everything we're looking for. It has plenty of parking and lots of grass and such to use. It'll suit our needs quite well. It's going to be at Louis Nelson County Park. Here is a map:http://maps.google.com/maps?f=...&om=1That should give you good directions from where you're coming from. If you need directions, let me know and I can get them to you.Again, 1:00 pm is the time. It's looking like it'll be 85-90 that day (according to weather.com), which should be nice. We had mentioned having a barbecue, but if it's too hot for people, I'd rather we go somewhere with air conditioning. What's everyone's opinion on that?If we barbecue, it'll bring your own meat and a side (salad, chips, etc.) to share. I'll provide plates, cups, utensils, beverages, and a grill with charcoal and such. What beverages does everyone want? Also, I need a number for each of you on how many are coming with you (if any).I'll look forward to hearing from you all.
