Battery Leak

Post by tcam »

So my battery is only a few months old now, and for some reason it's starting to leak fluid pretty badly. I have a set of hyper ground wires and an ignition amlipier, put I doubt those would be contributing to this leak. And I really have no idea how to fix this. Anyone know what typically causes a battery to start leaking?

Well not good news.First, battery's leak if they are overcharged, causing it to boil.So check your charging system. Also check to see if there is a crack in it,that can cause it to leak too.It could be from the add on's you have,or mabe something not hooked up right, but take care of it right away,it can cause a few problems,it can cause peeling paint, damage wiring.

where is it leaking? perhaps your battery tie down was tightened to much and crushed the lid?

Mavrik brought up a good point,is the battery hold down nut too tight.Do you have a voltmeter. It's an easy check.Test the battery with the car off,you should have between 12-13 volts. Then with the car running, you should have a high 13-14volt range. If you don't have a voltmeter, then get it checked out to make sure.
