Dont know if this is the proper place to post this, but how they heck do you get them bugs off the front end of your car?? I wash and wash and wash but yet they dont go away. When I waxed my car, it like made the front end just look worse b/c of the bugs. Any suggesstions on what I can buy that works the best to get rid of them?
Bug and Tar remover, available at Checker, Autozone, Pep Boys, etc...Really works well at getting the bugs off...just be carefull as it can be nasty stuff and you'll almost always turn the cloth you are using into the color of the car you are buffing...

I just went through this today. I had tons of bugs all over the front end. I used armor all concentrated car wash with warm water and a microfiber washcloth. I lathered up a small section at a time, scrubbed real good and rinsed. I got em all off of there. let the soap soak in for a minute, it really helps to break them free from the paint.
If you get too aggressive on the cladding on a monotone, paint will come off.If the bugs are not promptly removed, they will eat into the plastic cladding. Then no amount of rubbing will take them off, and as you stated, wax will just make it look worse. I found this out the hard way.

Ashley, where you been hiding, haven't seen you in a while.Once you get them all off, I found the best way to keep them off is take an hour and wax the heck out of the bumper. Then every other week or so, wash it off, and apply a very light coat of wax and buff it. That way instead of getting to the paint, the bugs stick to the wax. It's a little extra work every 2-3 weeks, but I think it's worth the 15 minutes it takes.

To remove the bugs...first rehydrate them with soapy water before trying to remove them. This may take 30 minutes of keeping them wet, so just wash the rest of the car while waiting. I use two seperate buckets, one for the front, wheels and lower cladding and another bucket with "cleaner" soapy water this help reduce clear coat scratches due to dirt and other chunckies that come from the lower car.

The two bucket idea is a good one. I usually soak up the car, wash the top half, and then refill the bucket with new soapy water for the lower half, and finish with the rims. Maybe it' time to invest an a new bucket?I am glad I am not crazy about the Wax idea. I thought I would get bombarded with arguements. But it works for me, and I am willing to take the extra work every few weeks to keep my vibe as bug free as possible.I do have an odd question, does any one know.... did the vibe come with a clearcoat at all, cause it seems like it is clearcoat free.... but it could just be old and faded.

living in europe and having no speed limits, bugs were a horrible problem. but somehow i stumbled upon the fact that, all you have to do, is wet down your car (well area with bugs) and take like a fabric softener sheet such as a "bounce sheet", and lightly polish the bugs away. i was afraid that it might do something to my paint, but i have found that its been the best way to get rid of bugs and me and my dad have been doing it for at least three years now.
^^^^^^^^^ what he said... that works VERY well. Been using that for years now! Just be sure to work on only a small area at a time and keep that area wet while you are working on it and then promptly rinse. You just have to "lightly" polish... scrubbing too hard could do something to your clearcoat... I think. I've tried Bounce, Downy and even some generic dryer sheet... got the same results with all of them. The brand name ones just seem to last longer, maybe they have more of the chemical on the sheets than the generic, just a guess though.

Two things to help get bugs and stuff off your car. 1) Clay bar system will work wonders with some elbow grease.2) Bug and Tar Remover, specifically this brand/bottle. It did wonders on my car.Yes I know its Turtle Wax, not Meguiar's but it does a great job. Just be sure not to let it sit too long and spray it off well.
I tried the aerosol can of bug and tar...thinking it'd so something better than the traditional spray bottle....I let it sit on there...it did a little...maybe i just need to change my "sponge" to something that has a little texture

There is a bug&tar removial "sponge" you can buy, that looks like a sponge wrapped in a nylon net... works ok... keeping wax on the front is the best thing you can do... but if it too late, Clay bar will remove them (make sure you get MOST of it off by normal means first)
^^ i never heard of the dryer sheet idea. i think i'll try that out next time.the best thing i found so far is the bug and tar pre-wash gel from rain-x. it's in a spray bottle, and it stays right where you want it. i got the car wet first, then sprayed the rain-x on and let it sit for about 5 mins(or longer if you've got a lot of old bugs), and then washed the car normally. it works great, i didn't have to spend time scrubbin the bugs off like i had to do before. it didn't take much extra effort at all they also make a protective shield spray in an aerosol can that i've only tried once. i sprayed it on the bumper and mirrors, but had to hold it closer than the directions said because it was windy. when it dried, it looked like i drove the front end of the car into somebody's nose. so it looks like you hafta do exactly what the directions say. the bug shield just rinses off with water, and is safe for clearcoats and everything else except for glass.i'll post my thoughts about the protective sheild after i try it again. canadiandriver.com did a review on it. here's the linkhttp://www.canadiandriver.com/...x.jpg
