type IV fluid alternates?

Post by discojunkie76 »

got an 05 base automatic, the gm dealer told me $13.00 per quart on the type IV trans fluid, and I can't seem to find it at any of the local parts stores, so am I just that lucky that I'm gonna have to drop $50.00+ for 4 quarts of fluid or am I getting bamboozled by my local Pontiac dealer.

Go to the toyota dealership and get trans fluid for the 05 base trix. It is probably cheaper and its the toyota fluid not the GM stuff. I get all my coolant/tranny fluid from toyota.

Mobil 3309 is an acceptable substitute. The problem is finding it.

I paid $6.06 a quart at the Toyota dealer. I didn't even bother asking what the Pontiac dealer wanted...I personally won't use an aftermarket fluid that "meets the standards..." It's not worth it in the long run to me...
