Ok so I read all the complaints about the cosmo cai and decided to get one anyway because I'm cheap and thought I could get it to fit. And now I'm cold, wet(because it started raining and I was in my driveway) and furious after 2 hours of scratching up my intake tube. It just wont fit at all. If anybody has any suggestions they would be much appreciated.
Where exactly is the intake not fitting? is it a one piece or a two piece? I had problems with mine too but eventualy got it to fit and i know keith had a slight problem with his getting to fit also. Just give us some more info and help will come.
Two words: ELBOW GREASE.I struggled with mine, but I was determined not to cut it. Eventually it squeezed through. Alot of people recommend cutting off an inch or two off the end.The most important thing to remember is it WILL fit, just make it.
I'll try the beer idea this afternoon. The problem is that I cant get the one end to line up with the throttle body. If I try to force it there it puts alot of pressure on the headlight housing, to the point where it moves. And even then, the bracket for the vibramount doesn't line up well. I had to drive a mini-van to work today!
Oh, I know its a little off topic, but what is the difference between 03-04 intakes and 05-up? I sold my 03 short ram to a buddy of mine for his sisters vibe. Only I just found out that her car is an 05 or 06. Is there any way to get an 03 short ram to fit on an 05-up vibe? I am not in the mood to give him his money back. I alredy spent it.
it will work, you just need a breather filter for the fat hose that comes out from under the valve cover, check the post in this thead by Markt2717, also try doin a search for more infohttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=23919
Are you sure the vibramount is installed in the right spot. And it's a tight fit between the headlight. As a few have said, you have to muscle it in place.I have an 04 and it was a pain to install. And it's best to install the filter from under the front fender cover.

Thanks for the help guys. And I'm pretty sure that I've got the vibra mount in the right place- In the oblong hole next to the original hole where the stock hose went down to the foglight. I just cant seem to muscle it in there. When I do, it pushes the headlight assembly out of wack. It looks like I might have to cut off some pipe where the intake meets the throttle body.
I've been wrestling it for a while now, and it will almost fit. It seems like I will have to cut between 1/2-3/4 of an inch off the trottle body end. I should also cut an inch or two off the filter end for easier access, right?
Ok, My turn to chime in.I did have to bend my vibra-mount to get it to line up.I did have to take out the driver side headlight to make things line up easier.Yes, it does put pressure on the headlight but not enough where I couldn't muscle the head light back in place in order to bolt it up.I didn't need to cut anything off the intake using the STOCK filter supplied.I did have to cut about 3inches off one end of the elbow and another 1inch or so off the other end of the elbow in order to get the AEM dryflow filter to fit nicely above the fog light. You could cut less than I did off the one end of the tube for the AEM filter but it will make the pipe end a lot further down in side the filter it self.I also have the injen pre-filter/hydrosheild on the AEM dryflow. This is where my vibra mount lined up prier to me bending it a tad to get it to fit right.

Ya, you'll have to cut it. Like I've mentioned before, it's originally made for the Matrix and their location for the foglights is different. You may be able to get it on how it is by struggling but then you'll have to choke up on the filter on the end to prevent it from behind smashed against the bumper........a smashed filter that is choked up on the intake will not get much air.
Well, I got everything working. I ended up cutting 1/2 inch off the throttle body end and then it fit perfictly. I forgot to cut the filter end, so I tried to see how easy I will be able to clean the filter, and it will be difficult to say the least. its too close to the foglight to get it off. Oh well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
I'm surprised that the 03-04 have fitment problems. My Cosmo was hard to install, but I did not have to cut anything nor do I have to choke up on the filter,as I have enough room to remove the filter with no problems, just that I have to take it off from underneath the fender well cover.
