I'm really interested in buying one of the Thule Hullavators so my Wife won't have to climb all over the car to tie down her kayak when I'm not there. It looks like a pretty sweet setup, but I was wondering if anybody else is using one and if they are happy with it.Here is a video that shows it on what looks like an Explorer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Pi90FXW4JA

What kind of kayak do you use? I'm thinking about getting one. I've never kayaked before. I'm thinking about getting a sit-on-top, somewhere between 8 and 11 feet. Any advise?

I don't know much about kayaks, my wife does the kayaking. I think it is like 14ft maybe. I know its not as long as a sea kayak. I believe it is an Old Time. One thing I do know is that the Yakima Kayak Stacker is a pain for my wife to try to put up by herself, so I want to get something that will make her life easier. I was looking at either the Thule Hullaport or the Hullavator. As far as advice goes, go to your local paddle sports store and get some help from a salesperson. They will help you find the right kayak for whatever kind of kayaking you want to do. You might even be able to rent a few and try them out.

That think looks like ti would pretty cool, but complex enough to be expensive.interesting, youtube offered me a bunch of lock bumping how-to's as related videos, that is scary stuff, I need to figure out how to better secure my house.
looks cool, super easy to lift. I have seen ladder racks for full size vans and sprinters before... same idea.thule stuff is always expensive... but it's good quality. Joat is right though, that looked complicated and that = $$$... prob even more then usual thule product.

It is priced at $470. I don't mind spending the money on it if it makes my wife's outings more enjoyable, but if it doesn't work well on the Vibe I will stick with the Thule hullaport. I take it that nobody has had any experience with this on the Vibe. I may be paying a visit to REI, as you can't really beat their return policy.
