Anyone try the Energy Suspension bushings?

Post by northvibe »

I see Energy Suspension makes bushings for- Front end control arm bushing set- Rear axle beam bushings- Front sway bar frame bushingsFor the matrix/vibe. Has anyone got these? I cant get the motor mounts because I have a auto but I figured if I was going to upgrade suspension parts these could be a cheap way to get nice bushings.http://www.energysuspension.com/pages/toy.htmlAbout 3/4 page down is the trix.

I had a set of Poly bushings on my old Bronco. It helped there quite a bit, but comparing the ride of the Bronco to the Vibe is comparing Apples to Cheeseburgers.

I installed the front inserts in mine this afternoon, but I haven't tried the rear ones yet. From the looks of them I think they will fit though. Now for the bad news... vibration at idle in gear is bad. I doubt most people would put up with it... I'm going to try them for a week before I decide if I am willing to. So, they appear to fit (the fronts definitely do), but there are definite drawbacks.

thats the thing, only the fronts will fit, the backs supposidly dont. But i heard you can upgrade to celica gt-s ones...to much work and money for that. If i wanted solid engine mounts id fill mine with that stuff. And yea when you have the engine mounts in they make your car vibrate a lot so some people take them out.

CONFIRMED!! Both the front and rear mounts fit on an auto. I finally got around to installing the rear inserts tonight. I guess noone actually tried, they just went off of what they read. The vibrations are tolerable with both mounts done, actually less than with just the front. At least they're fine with me, I'll have to wait and see what passengers say...

2002sportside THANK YOU! You should make a write up how you like them after a week or 2 on here. I might think about getting them if they arent to bad vibration wise. You notice a difference in keeping the wheels to the pavement or shifting?

I've had the front mount for about a month and the vibration lessened some over time. You feel it most after a highway trip. With just the front mount wheel hop in the rain was eliminated (yes, an auto Vibe can suffer from wheel hop). Wheel spin has been pretty much eliminated altogether. This may also have something to do with my summer tires liking the warmer weather though. After adding the rear mount there may be more noise transfered into the body at highway speeds, but it's not exactly a quiet car to begin with. One trip isn't exactly a good test of a mod or if its just in my head either. I'll post up a full write up in a week or two... but I think I'm going to leave them in I'll see if I can get some female opinion on them too... I have no female friends that are into cars so they will complain if it's that bad, lol.

I have ES bushings in my Subaru and they ROCK... keeps the suspension from flexing in all the WRONG places... Keeps the alignment in speck throughout the travel of the suspension and keeps things from changing mid-curve....Now you DO have to deal with a rougher ride and more NVH (normal/nominal/natural vehical harmonics or noise) Some of the bushings can be a REAL bastach to get installed (did it all myself) and may require a press to get many of them in... I personaly think they were a great addition to my Sube when i did struts and top mounts all around... i had it all apart anyway....

If you guys need photos of those ES pieces, let me know. I can post them up. They arent real quick movers. We've had the same set of Axle Beam Bushings in stock for two months... I think its an issue of people not knowing about them. The Motor Mounts are really popular though....worth living with the vibrations.

I still need to write up a review of the mounts with an automatic, but they're staying in. The vibrations are more than tolerable, the mounts seemed to break in with a weeks use.
