Too cheap for a Unichip?

This site has them for $392. Is it too good to be true? It looks like I'd have to send it elsewhere to get it programmed since they only have the choice for catback exhaust and CAI.http://www.autoanything.com/pe....aspx

wow that's an incredible deal. and the prices have been going down signifcantly, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. Doesn't sound like a skam or anything. And that site is also pretty well known.

To me they are still too expensive for the gains you get. I just got a whole new PCM (ECU) custom tuned for all my modifications, firmer shifts, speed limiter removed etc. for my GMC for $170.00. I still have the stock PCM if I want to run stock. It takes about 10 minutes to switch. I haven't dynoed it yet but 25-35 HP gain is not a problem.

People that have had it only had nice things to say. I have to have some time of engine management sysem and it seems to be the best for the Vibe. Your GMC also probably has a huge engine so there are more possible gains to get out of it and I'm guessing the Japanese ECUs are a bit more complicated and efficient, not allowing you to modify much at all.

Yeah, those chips and programmer kits for big trucks (especially diesels) are pretty cool! Plug it in and BOOM! 100more hp and torque. Unfortunatly, things don't work like that in the 4 banger world. Our ecu's will always revert to their original programming if you try to overide it. So you either have to have a piggy back that sorta tricks the ecu into reading what you want it to do. Or a standalone like e-manage or APEXi FC (manual tranny ONLY! ) that totally replaces the stock ecu.There is a company that does reprogram the stock ecu's. But I think it's only for Nissans.

diesels are the engines that get those huge gains out of plug and play programmers. With little engines that run normal gas and are 1.8l yea like lancer said you arent going to see much unless you get it tuned and have a lot of things upgraded like internals etc. If you really want power go FI.

So everyone was really impressed with this? I may pick one up soon since I'm graduating and I should have some nice cash. My engine has been running pretty good lately and I want to manage it a bit better. I'll probably still have to send it to NeverEnough since the AutoAnything site only has two programs to choose. I want it set for premium fuel and my header.

At least for me, because I don't have any good authorized tuners around my area that know how to tune them.

I hear you on the tuning part. It sucks having to put my car out of service for a week or two while I send out the modual to get remapped. And the closest one for me to get a custom dyno tune is an hour away. That's not so bad but then I'm stuck there for a day or two waiting for the tuners to finish. And so far with my exhaust with my local tuner shop. What was supposed to be a 10hour job has turned into a 3 week "try to squeeze me in" deal.I tried to get info from Unichip about getting the software and plug so my local shop could tune my car. They stopped replying to my e-mails and when I call, no one can give me a straight answer.Unichip is a good product. They just have really crappy service.

BlueCrush was trying to get a shop in MN to be a unichip tuner, ask him about how to do that. I think the shop has to contact unichip and go to a training session.

The chip will tune the engine managment system to take advantage of those bolt ons to provide better A/F ratios at different rpms, but not sure if it can tune lift on the gt..
