im wondering what my insurance wil be once i get my base vibe repairedi am currently 19 hmm any ideas of how much this would be i also have 1 traffic violation. Or how much do you pay for insurance?
no ive never had a accident,it was a lame 'unsafe passing' ticketa semi pulled into a right turning lane, (which i was following) and stopped and put on his 4-way flashers. So i looked back behind me cause i had to go around i saw there was enough room to pass him and there was a cop coming towards me on the highway from ahead of me and he says he could tell the guy behind me had to brake becuase i pullled out in front of him. It was lame
Wow, Coratz, those numbers are high! Out here we enjoy really low insurance rates. My costs to drive per year:License: $25Plates (includes insurance, 7% discount for being a good driver & monthly financing free): $95.16/mo = $1142 (this number is based on the Vibe ... other cars differ)Additional insurance (brings deductable to $250 on damage, $50 glass, includes financing fee): $25.63/mo for 8 mo = $205.04So, for 1 year, license & registration comes to: $1372. Cheap!!

I have 2 violations and I'm 22. I was looking at 170-250 dollars a month. I took the cheapest, which is also the crappiest coverage, with GMAC online. I am told AMICA, Gieco, and Progressive are good rates for younger drivers. You will surely want to shop around. If I had not, I would be paying nearly $100 extra a month. Good luck.

your all lucky i have a terrible driving record and my insurance is more than my car note ,but i wasnt gona give the car back so oh well. at least the vibe is less of a cop magnet than my bright red tinted and blackedout chrome wheeled grand am. i got a ticket like every month when i had that thing. no tickets since i wrecked it though(not my fault).
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!
I just got a letter from my insurance company today saying that they are refusing to renew my policy this year because of a speeding ticket I got a little over 2 years ago. Does this sound like B.S. or what? This renewal would have been the first one after my 25th birthday and my rates should have dropped considerably. I am thinking that they just don't want to offer me a renwal rate at a low cost. I have been with this insurance company for over 7 years and have only made one claim when I hit a deer with my Mustang (considered no fault/act of God) and it cost them about $1000 to fix my car. I have paid them a total of about $10,000 so far and they only paid out $1000 on my behalf so far. Thats about 90% profit for them. I think this whole thing is really stupid. I have several tickets on my record (mostly for speeding), but have had none for almost 2 years now. I wish I could sue them. I guess I'll have to see how I fare with another company now. I shouldn't be put on high risk because most of these should have come off my reportable record by now. Just have to shop around now.

Does this sound like B.S. or what? Yes it does sound like BS. Who is the company? You need to call them up, or see your agent, and bring up the fact that you have been with them for so long. Also state that if they want to hold something against you that happened 2 years ago, you want a partial refund for a down payment on a new policy elsewhere, becuase of the extremely late response on their part. Make sure they know you are willing to leave for another company, rather than stick it out with their "high risk" policy. This happened to my father after being with his company "State Farm" for 10 years. He called them up and got someone with some clout on the phone. They appologized for causing trouble to a loyal customer, and fixed the problem. It's not always that easy, but try whatever you can.

Here is what happened to me with my insurance. About 4 months before I bought my Vibe, I called my insurance company to ask how much it would go up. I was told that my insurance would be about $600 every 6 months. Not bad for a 23 year old with a speeding ticket. So I decide on the Vibe after shopping around and I call the insurance company again to verify that it would be $600. So the time comes and I call again to get the certificate sent to the dealership so I could get my car. Well, the dumba"" on the phone must not have heard my name right because she sent the certificate in my sisters name. So I fixed that and got my car. The next Monday I get a call from them. Apparently they made a mistake when they quoted me, and my insurance was not going to be $600 every 6 months, it was going to be $1300 every six months. This happened a few weeks ago, and I am still a little angry about it. Sorry about the long post.

I bought her a wonderfull Ford Escort 95 4 doors sedan. In fact, it cost less in insurance to have 2 cars then only 1.It was $1800 to insure my gf and I on the Vibe and now it cost $650 for my gf and $850 for me. I will never understand how insurance work.
I'm now with a company called UNITRIN DIRECT. Formerly a Progressive customer. I had to find cheaper rates since I was moving. These guys are covering me for $160.00 a month with 5 pts. in which saved me $250.00 a month with Progressive.

Make sure they know you are willing to leave for another company, rather than stick it out with their "high risk" policy. The company is the Erie Insurance Group. I think my mom and dad took out a policy with them for the first time in 1975. That's been a long time to be insured exclusively with one company. We also have had a homeowner's policy through them for at least that long as well. In all those years, the only claims made were my accident with the deer that I mentioned, my mom hit a deer in 1997 and it was about $1200 to fix her Saturn at the time, and she skidded on some black ice one winter and beached her car on a snowbank in 1998 and had to have a towtruck come to pull her off of it, but there was mimimal damage to the car that was only a few hundred dollars to fix. Other than that, we have made no claims. They've paid out about $2700 over 28 years. I can't even guess how many tens of thousands of dollars that they collected from my family in that amount of time. Not to mention that my sister's auto policy is with them and she has never made a claim either. We have all been with the same agent all these years as well. They are treating me really sh#%ty for having taken so much of our money for so many years. I'd like to give them a good kick in the a$$ for being such jerks over this. It isn't the agency that is giving me the problems, my agent has always been nice to me, it's the corporate money grubbers that are behaving really poorly in all of this. Here is what I am doing to handle this situation. I am going to apply for insurance with several other companies to see what they have to offer. I have already thought of 6 companies to apply to off the top of my head. When I get the quotes back, I am going to go talk to my agent, who knows very well how long my family has done business with him and how much he has made off of us. I can't ask for money back to take to another insurance company because, now that I've looked at it, they should have attached a surcharge to my policy when I got the tickets, but it somehow got overlooked. I already benefitted because nobody must have checked my record all those years to see if I got any tickets and my policy never went up, so I've already saved money. But just to refuse me renewal out of the blue over 2 years past the fact is really a bunch of crap. If that's how this company wants to treat me, they can go to hell and I'll gladly take my business elsewhere. I'll probably be driving for another 50 years or more and in the future I will need homeowner's insurance as well, so that is a lot of business that they will lose for being stubborn over one stupid speeding ticket.Ironically, GM sent me a letter offering to give me an insurance quote through GM Insurance that arrived the same day as the notice I got that my company was refusing to renew my policy. Maybe someone is trying to tell me something?

wow... lots of insurance horror stories. insurance companies are so bogus... now im afraid to find out what my rates will be, well maybe ill go get a quote from a local insurance company tommorow there are a few in my area or else i will check the net..why must it cost so much just to drive a vehicle!?!?! why why why hehyou pay enough just to own it, insurance should be covered in the cost of the vehicle or something. like anything like that would ever happen thoug hehcar + insurance + gas + maintenance = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.$$leftover = $0.0000hehe hopefully not
Yeah, tell me about it. The big one that burns me is that women were given lower rates on insurance than men. It is illegal to charge people of different sexes different prices for the exact same service, so why are they allowed to get away with it for so long? They try and explain that, statistically, women have fewer claims then men. Well, if I own a business, can I place a surcharge on every woman that chooses to do business with me just because they are a woman and, statistically, women cause me more problems and headaches than men? NO! I would be sued right out of business or some crazy NOW activists or something would burn it down overnight. So why are insurance companies allowed to do this, but every other business cannot? I think I've got the answer---because we have two highly corrupt entities working hand in hand---insurance companies and state/federal government. Aaah, yes, combine those two and you've got the perfect recipe to make all your money disappear! They both suck, and when they get together, they suck exponentially more.

I don't think it's true that every other business cannot charge a different price based on your (removed). Have you checked out the charge for a ladies haircut vs a mens haircut? Or how about having a shirt or jacket drycleaned. In both cases I have seen the same establishment charge more than double if you are a woman than if you are a man (regardless of how much time it will take, how short your hair is, etc). And these different prices are actually posted so it's not something they make up on the spot. By no means am I saying it's acceptable, I'm just saying that's reality. And I'm sure there are LOTS more examples out there that charge one (removed) more than the other (and I've never heard of any lawsuits over it). Life ain't fair, get used to it! Try to look at the big picture and see the other person's point of view before you get too excited.
My insurance is about $90/month ($2 million liability, $500 deductable, no glass). I'm female, well over 25 That price is relatively low because I live in a small town and do mostly highway driving. If I lived in Edmonton the cost would be about $120/month I think. One thing to note, my insurance company (Dominion of Canada) recently switched to a new rating system that is based on the average cost to repair your particular type of car, rather than based on the purchase price. For some people the rate probably went up because of this, for some it went down. I think it's more equitable since it's based on the actual repair costs and a more expensive vehicle is NOT necessarily more expensive to repair. I bought my Vibe after the change so I don't know how the rate would have faired. But the cost on our 2000 Toyota Tundra dropped about 5-10%.
My insurance coverage is:liability 250,000/per person, 500,000/per accidentprop damage 100,000 per accident(max allowed in my state, I believe)comprehensive 250 deductiblecollision 500 deductibleI also have medical expenses coverage, income loss, accidental death benefit, and funeral benefitas well as underinsured and uninsured coverages(required with my car loan)Total for my Vibe this past year cost was about $1280 USD or $1865 CANNow, I have been doing some shopping around on the internet for insurance prices and some of them are totally ridiculous. Take GEICO for example. Their website estimates that they will be willing to insure me for a mere $4900 USD per year or $7142 CAN! That is totally absurd!!! I have never, ever had an accident! I only have 2 speeding tickets currently on my record and the most recent one was just about 2 years ago! At that rate, I could buy my car outright in cash at sticker price for what 4 years of insurance cost me! What the hell? Wouldn't YOU be P.O.'d if this was happening to you? I don't think it would cost that much to insure a 1932 Deusenberg SJ (only 4 known to still exist, valued at about $2.2 million, Jay Leno has one, maybe I should email him and ask what it costs to insure it for comparison purposes). And some of the others aren't much better. Allstate wants $3904 USD per year ($5692 CAN). You would think that I kill 100 people a day with my car and destroyed Ft. Knox to be charged those rates! Who do these companies think they are charging rates like that? It would be far cheaper to hire a good lawyer and fight my current insurance company.I have my insurance listed through my mom's home because it is my permanent address. It is in farm country about 35 miles from the city. My insurance only dropped $50 per year when we moved from the suburbs out to a very rural area. I was 21 years old and insuring 2 cars for $1920 per year, liability only on one of them. I had 2 tickets on my record at that time as well. Now I'm 4 years older and only insuring one car and some companies want to charge me more than double that?? Something is seriously wrong here.
