Adding Another Coin Holder

Post by Vibetastic »

Since I park at the beach alot and need to have many quarters to do so, I thought it might be a good idea to add another coin holder next to the original one. I removed the blank next to the dash coin holder so I could another coin holder in that spot.I thought I could just drop by a Toyota dealership on the way home from work and buy one. Of course, nothing is that simple. Apparently, a Matix has about a dozen different possibilities concerning the coin holder and the parts guy said he would need my VIN number. Since I have a Vibe, this would not work.Anyway, does anybody know a part number for the coin holder on a 2005 Vibe? It's black or very dark grey in color and U.S. quarters fit into it.

I don't know the part number, but in the past when the Toyota parts workers who can't be bothered to dig for the part number demand a VIN, I have looked at Matrixes for sale on ebay and grabbed a VIN from there. This one ought to work for a coin holder part number lookup.

Funny, my Toyota dealer loves to look up and sell me parts for my Vibe. I always buy my rear wipers there.

It seems to me that the compartment to the left of the steering column would hold a boat load of quarters, and would be less prone to spilling.

Viva,Yeah, that's what I put in mine. Comes in handy when I go to wash my car at a touchless car wash. Only quarters though. The rest of my change goes in the ash-tray.To cut down on coins rattling in that compartment, I lined it with felt. I also lined my glove box with felt as well. I keep all the various sizes of tools in there that I would need to do just about anything to my car.. except the torque wrench, which doesn't fit!Dave

I used to use the ash tray thing for change, now I just drop it in the door handle. I never used the in dash coin holder, I also popped out a blank from there, and swapped it with the coin holder by the parking brake, since that coin holder seemed to always catch some dirt, a lot easier to clean with the blank in there.

Back on 4-28, I emailed the parts department of every Toyota dealership in Orange County and one in Long Beach asking for a price on the coin holder. Not one dealership replied.I walked into the parts departmant of a Pontiac dealership in Westminster asking about the coin holder. I was quoted $37.00.I guess I'll drop my idea of adding another coin holder. It's not worth the expense and trouble.

I'll sell you mine for only $35 shipped the toyota parts departments I have been to may have something like that in stock, but probably not. Doesn't seem like a high failure item they would need to keep on hand, so whoever can get it it would probably have to order it. I suggest grabbing a VIN # from a a Matrix off ebay and go on in to a Toyota dealership's parts department, and talk to them directly. You may even have to pay for it ifirstto get them to order it.

If you would send me your blank I will send you my coin holder, I hate the way change rattles in it and I don't use it.
