Loose CV Joint

Post by Petrucci914 »

Hello,I've been complaining about certain sounds and shifting issues at low speeds. During my motorcycle course today I had my dad take a look at my car. He said on the passenger-side CV joint there was a little play up and down and it went into the differential. Is there supposed to be a bit of play or no?

I don't know.I haven't had a chance to check mine. The matrix service manual I downloaded only says this, but doesn't qualify how much play is remarkable:

Thank you. I think mine has too much play but I can't find any place that sells CV joints for our cars.

I brought my car in and had a chassis inspection for $20. They checked all wheel bearings and everything attached to the front axle. They found nothing. They said some of my vibrations were due to my exhaust and the lurching feeling is from the automatic tranny load balancing. Still when I turn, though, I hear something rubbing or scraping. It's sounds like intense tire noise but is heard mostly at very low speeds.....and that is when the lurching happens. I had an alignment a few months ago and I had radial pull going on so they rotated the tires and I'm not supposed to touch them for a while. I don't know if this could be involved or not. Thoughts?

just curious...during the inspection or since your last tire rotation...have you taken the wheels off again?check the tightness of the lug nuts. i was hearing similar sounds and had a 'loose' feeling while turning and it turned out to be very loose lug nuts on one of my wheels.just a thought.
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
